You parry with light shields, send shockwaves with tower shields, and empower two-handed weapons to send shockwaves on attacks. All those, same as different relics' discharge, and knives "blade dance", is considered a "special action", has the same key bind, is places at the same place in UI, etc.
It is by design that two-handed weapons can't be used with shields. But besides having higher damage, they have a unique ability to offset that.
That's chill and all, but I would much rather just be able to block and parry with a two hander than worry about any unique abilities, or, like mentioned previously, one hand them and run with a shield and suffer the loss of whatever "cool" ability the sword might have. I feel like a lot of soulslikes try to strive to have some special ability for weapons when, in reality, you get by just fine without even needing to bother.
Like, yeah, DS3 and Elden Ring have a buncha cool stuff on their weapons, but at the end of the day, idrc? I kind of prefer just a simpler style. I mean, Salt and Sanctuary/Sacrifice didn't really bother with "Weapon Arts." Dark Souls 1 and 2 mostly didn't, though any "WAs" were just a reanimated Heavy Attack with an effect.
I guess I just prefer these Side-scrollers to not really worry about anything special or some extra move, I'd greatly prefer having more control over how **I** play than how the game **wants** me to play, as that's usually what I enjoy most from these games that give a lot of inventory and equipment freedom.
Are you mad that you can't use two controllers at the same time as well?
I mean, it's fairly obvious, but quite a few games have "Two handed weapons" and then allow the player to one hand them if they have the necessary stats. I like the option to one-hand larger weapons because of playstyle... and it looks cool.
As for the last jab, I don't really understand why it was necessary, it also doesn't make any sense in context to what my gripe is. Unnecessary hostility for zero reason, especially considering I was already praising the game based off of first impressions.
