You're a genius, not like you're trying to subtly mock or anything. You're not smarter than the others; quite the opposite. It wasn't hard to figure out that maybe he was just asking where and how to find the NPC, that being said, if you want to help him, give him some directions.

Didn't give you the medal, I don't reward snarky comments. I said "You need the cook." because obviously OP bought the book at the tavern at the first meeting, which is at the start of the game. Same as the alchemist book, which you are no where close to either. In short, find the NPC. I said it like that because that isn't spoiling the location. OP didn't ask for that.

The cook is in the zone you unlock after the necromancer (the entropy one). High up in the tower with other friendly npcs.
