Had everything to be a great game, but...
The combat is kinda bad. The feel of the combat is way off. Stiff animations, and the lack of impact and momentum, turn the combat visually and mechanic boring. The skilltree is not very good either. Too many stat nodes, and too few active or passive skill nodes.

I refunded. If it gets better in the future, i will give a second chance.

I refunded partially due to those reasons. Largely though because the EULA for this game that you can't opt out of is basically allowing My.Games to keylog your system. This is further enhanced by the fact that people are reporting Windows Defender pinging a wacatac trojan located in the games .exe and a developer having even confirmed that they've received reports of this already is enough for me to wash my hands of it. Especially with Last Epoch's new season starting today.

I suggest doing a full system scan. And possibly a offline virus scan too. My.Games may have very well infected all of our PC's with keyloggers or dataminers.

Same, got gifted the game and I am going to refund it.
The combat in the demo is atrocious.

SoTN had more variety at the start and that game is older than most of the devs of this game.

I can say that the combat does open up and get alot better once you get class synergies going on, but I do agree that overall the combat needs more impact. Animations are fine, but the soft sound effects, and weak hit effects make it feel not very impactful.

Overall I'm still enjoying the game a lot and the deeper I get into the class trees the more engaging the combat gets.
The guy you fight in the tutorial was a big indicator of combat impact and sfx. Little swings making little noises.
I can recommend No rest for the wicked, way better game in my opinion still in EA tough but a big patch is coming at the end of april.

One is a 3D souls-like and the other is 2D metroidvaina, so while I can see the comparisons in artstyle/visuals the games are not really comparable imo.

Still I'm looking forward to the big April patch for No Rest for the Wicked.

I really enjoy the combat, it's basic and easy to learn. Will also play Wicked at the end of the month but that game is a masterpiece in the making.
