EULA (End-User License Agreement).
To answer OP, yes I did skim through it is kind of rediculous for a game of this size.
Also to warn you or anyone else, if you decline the game may be detected by your anti virus as a Torjan (it did me lol). I'm going to give the game the benefit of the doubt and assume its a false positive, but I do agree that the use agreement is very aggressive for a singleplayer souls-like metroidvainia style game.
Welcome to modern gaming where you really own nothing you buy anymore ;(
Your probably right, but to be fair I did not just ignore it, I did spend 1-2hrs trying to figure out if it was a false positive or not.
The thing that made me think it was, was that the game exe was not detected as a virus UNTIL, I DECLINED the EULA. As soon as I did that the game literally automatically shut down and then Windows defender picked it up as a trojan virus.
Maybe someone more technical in terms of software, should test that out to see if it does the same to them. By Test I mean, boot the game for the first time, DECLINE the EULA, and see if it then becomes auto flagged as a virus.

Welp maybe I should have had more patience and trusted my GUT, as the game would not let me decline and still play it.
Its not possible to change my decision is it lol.
UPDATE: I don't believe you can "decline" the new EULA, because I literally just tried to boot the game and BEFORE the game is even booted STEAM prompts me to accept or cancel the game boot lol.
Sounds like these small devs choose the wrong publisher for a single player metroidvainia action RPG.
Yeah, going the Knights Peak was a big mistake. They also screwed up another developers release today big time.
The game is good imo which sucks this publisher is attached to it. What other game did this publisher release today?
Tempest Rising.
They tried to make people pay 10 Euro extra to play the game over the holidays via "pay extra for 1 week advanced access", but accidentally released the normal version, too. So they discontinued selling the normal version so only deluxe is available.
Also many issues with pre-order bonuses.
Man thats crazy....
