No ultrawide in 2024... NEXT!
Hit me up when you realize it isn't 2004.

It will surely be modded, like most games do, so no worries. Abit weird to restrict this due to "fairness" in a singleplayer game, it affects no one really, but you do you. Been using a Ultrawide for god knows how many years now, and the amount of games ive played not supporting UW is on one han, it should be common.

Ill mod it in, i dont care if im beeing "fair" to others in their own singleplayer games, like...what.

I get that but the game surely designed with 16:9 in mind, if they implemented ultrawide you would see enemies and terrain from way further away and then you need to somehow re-balance how far away enemies draw your aggro and how far your ranged weapons go etc. etc. it's not as simple as just a graphics option some games would need to be re-balanced at lot.

This is exactly the case. The game was designed for 16:9, which is by far the most common ratio. If other aspect ratios would make the players able to see more of the map, more of the enemies, puzzles, etc. it would be extremely unfair and completely ruin the experience.

Extremely unfair? The enemies can be difficult enough to fight at times. I don't think knowing where they are would make things that much easier. It's like Dark Souls. You can see enemies a ways off but you know you're going to have a difficult fight on your hands. Simply 'hiding' the enemies from the player doesn't make a good experience and ultrawide certainly wouldn't ruin it just by allowing to see an extra 500 pixels ahead.

Also showing more of the puzzles? Why would you design your game to intentionally hide puzzles from the player? It makes no sense. A player should be able to see all of the puzzle in order to figure out how to crack it.

I genuinely loved playing your demo, It's a fantastic game, I WANT to give you my money so I hope you reconsider your stance and view on ultrawide for this one.

I'll keep it wishlisted and my fingers crossed.

It's crazy how you all ignore the second argument of the devs and overuse the clearly secondary unimportant one. "It would ruin the experience" is the primary argument here. It would let you see stuff you're not supposed to see in puzzle (literally like ghostwalking in an escape game for example) and would probably have unintended graphical effects from off-screen stuff. Plus you would still all find a way to complain for the rooms that are not bigger than a 16:9 screen and would still have to be filled with black on the borders anyway !

Can you provide one example of 21:9 ruining a puzzle in the demo? I'd like to see this for myself. Just one.

This is a demo that is likely to represent like 5% of the content of the game -_- Are you serious right now ? You still intentionally ignored the argument of graphical issues. Which in a 2.5D game may create things that cannot appear correctly or look out of place. And again there's the issue of rooms that wouldn't fill a 21:9 screen anyway. But at this point I feel like the entitledness warrants just adding it with a fair warning and leave it at that.

Hardly entitled. We just want to be able to play the way we want to in a nice game.

What do you mean by this? "And again there's the issue of rooms that wouldn't fill a 21:9 screen anyway". I really don't understand what you mean here.

As for graphical issues, of all the games I've played that are in 21:9, including indie and even side scrolling indie games, there have never been graphical issues. When MODDING in 21:9, there has only been one game that has had a graphical glitch where NPC's moved at 2 FPS. That's it. I hardly think this game will glitch out so bad if it filled a 21:9 screen.

And the example I want, yeah, there should be an example in the demo right? There's enough content there. There must be something there you can use to prove that 21:9 wouldn't work in this game, right?

And I want to play all my favorite retro games in 16:9, but I can't always, depending what fixes are available. That doesn't make them bad games not worth recommending. Part of the entitlement is saying the screen ratio is worth not buying the game. Not all game features are born equal, and no, screen ratio should never be a deal breaker, unless it's forcing some weird ratio that's making it actually hard on the eyes (for example forcing some sort of 50:1 on all screens).

There is likely (I believe the demo has some but can't remember) to be rooms that wouldn't horizontally fill a 21:9 screen, so what should they do with those ? Redesign them specifically for the ratio ? Zoom the camera and as a result give a disadvantage to ultrawide players ?

What ? You're really serious ? I'm not the freaking dev. But said freaking dev did tell you there would be content ruined, but you don't trust them. That's where the other part of the entitlement lies. I'd be fine with asking for some visual flavour to hide the harsh transition of black borders, but if the devs truly believe 21:9 and higher will ruin the experience, don't ask them to compromise their game and be fine with mods. But again, asking for a better 16:9 transition than black border, I'm okay with it.

It's unreal engine, right? I can just easily mod it to force UW. Not a big issue.

I did enjoy the demo and preview enough to buy the game, but the lack of wide is a big shame.
I have a Ultrawide monitor, but why would I skip a great game, just because it's not in 21:9? It's like skipping movies, that is shot in 2.40:1, because it doesn't fill up the entire 16x9 screen, when watching on TV.

I'm pretty sure there are people who actually do that sadly !

Why is this such a massive sh-it for you guys? Its like you dont know that only 0.4% of steam users use UW, and of all of those how many will even play the same game?
So the devs should rebalance the whole game around you guys? Just for this tiny fraction of the playerbase?

If this was GTA6 triple or quatruple A, mainstream made by a gigantic dev, than it would be okay to complain, but you sound like entitled brats right now, whats next? People with VR gear will complain too?
