Boss Help : Anubis Scales
Am I missing something? After I kill one side, I start fighting the other, but I randomly get insta-killed as Im fighting her. Constantly. Once theres only one left, is there a silent mechanic I have to follow that Im not following that just kills me? Im trying to find guides for this boss online but finding nothing any help would be appreciated

Huh, the one topic that even mentions it didn't even clarify how they got past it.

When only one enemy is left, they will fire off a barrage of cutter bullets and heart bullets from their free hand.
These hard bullets are fast, and the difference in speed between them and the slow barrage of cutter bullets makes the heart bullets difficult to deal with. If the heart bullets are fired when the main character is close to an enemy, it is difficult to guard against or avoid them. However, if the difficulty level is too high, you may be killed by a single heart bullet.
Adjust your HP gauge to kill two enemies in succession, or focus on guarding.
There's a third phase after too, have fun.

Given this is Chapter 8, it is that point of the game where you can steamroll by using Demon Rage + Darkness + Full Burst buffs on melee or powerful spells.
The i-frames on casting a cheap possession skill (with Energy Drain) for survival alongside Backstep, stacking guard durability, and optionally Eliminate for projectiles still applies here.
You should have 10 scale pans, so one set for triple Max HP (5+8+11 = 24%), Magical Power, ST Gain Rate, EXP, and Coins is:
  • Daimond (85), Sirpphae (65), Mochi Rolled in Bean Jam (59), Cream Puff (28), Attack Power Card (32)
  • The Book of Karon: Vol 36 (Travel) (68), Pure White Garment (70), Chocolate Pie (63), Jam Roll (58), Camping Set (10)
while another for Guard Durability, ST Gain Rate, Use Speed, Effect Duration, and resistances is:
  • Decorative Cake (86), Tea Leaves (78), Mochi Rolled in Bean Jam (59), Hot Chocolate (49), Pie Dough (12)
  • Red Bean Jam (66), Large Water-filled Bottle (60), Jam Roll (58), Crystal Pickaxe (56), Soft-Serve Ice Cream (44)

I was overthinking it. When I started I attacking both they would start spamming those unblockable daggers, so I thought I was ACTIVELY being punished for attacking both at the same time. So Id focus one down and then start fighting the other.

Ive come to realize it was just unlucky timing. Every time. I decided to just start whaling on both of them and although they dagger spammed me like, genuinely, all 4 times I first tried it, they didnt spam it when I tried for the final time. So I got them both low and then merked them both at the same time which Im now assuming is the intended route. Crazy to think that unlucky random attack patterns completely threw me off.

Also Im pretty sure what was killing me was that Id get poisoned right before I killed one of them but I was so locked in I didnt notice, because on my winning attempt I noticed I got poisoned literally right after killing one and immediately used anti toxin. Didnt end up insta dying that time. Thank you for the help though, Im just going to leave this huge comment of my experience just in case anyone else has the same unlucky problems I did lol

Edit: Im at the boss-rush thing where you have to fight the 4 different bosses and the mermaid lady and her 2 goons are kicking my ass. Starting to think the wave attack is undodgeable and unblockable or something

For that wave attack, you can take cover by standing under the platforms. Kind of like for that Elysium one fairy god.

The wave attack can definitly be blocked, with 170 Guard it takes out about half of the Guard Gauge so you should need about at least 90 Guard to block it, if you have the Redirection skill you can Perfect Guard it for no Guard Damage (as a side note in the Gaiden version of that fight however it does a lot more Guard Damage, with 305 Guard it takes about 80% of the Gauge so you would need I think about 250 Guard which you definitly won't get at that point of Gaiden).
