But imo most staves aren't really worth the trouble, I usually just used them until mastery and then switched them out.
Though some of them come in handy for the arena.
Is magic in general just ♥♥♥♥ then?
This seems to be a matter of preference, however. I have seen many others here express their like of them.
If by "magic" you also mean your possession skills, then hell no, they are a lifesaver. Just the i-frames they give you alone are worth it.
As another poster mentioned, however, possession magic (the skills performed with directional inputs) is incredible. You'll generate heaps of SP doing normal attacks, become invulnerable (to various degrees, usually) as they're cast, and deal hella damage/get a buff/etc.
