Removing boards? Issue with weights after installing them?
I thought the idea of boards (for the postscript chapters) was quite neat, until I realised that boards massively increase weights of weapons, to the points of making them unusable. I'm not sure whether this is a bug or not, but it is quite annoying. Is there a way to remove boards once they are installed?

I was not aware it did this. Just tested it using the Bronze Broadsword...

Base Weight of 100. No boards..
With a Rare board, it jumped up to 589.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but post it in the English feedback thread... because it should be addressed as I don't think the text that describes plates mentions that it increases the weight of the weapon. It just mentions the basic capabilities are significantly enhanced.

I am pretty sure that is intended. All endgame weapons are heavy as hell. Weight is like a penalty to somewhat balance out the higher power. It would also be strange to have starting weapons like the Tree Branch with little to no weight have higher or just as high attack power as endgame weapons that weigh 500-600.

Just put points into speed, activate "Weight Lost" bonus on the Libra and maybe put the weight reduction piece gem on your weapon.

It is actually to balance out things. With 0 gross weight on character sheet, the Karon skill that increases base heavy weapon speed and enough agility/speed you can swing the last greatsword as if it was dagger. Add the Karon skill that increases weapon range and with one swing you can clear quater of a screen:)

This is fair, but I think not allowing for removing boards once installed is too punitive; the weight increase is not presented as a stat change when you install them.

Well, the game doesn't communicate well changes like that. You can always switch around your stats into agility to balance it out, or pick up/slot in gem with weight reduction. Getting Karon skill that reduced shield weight to 0 also help if you are using it (but I think shield is small contributor, since my weapon weights around 750)

Well, like everyone said, you will need to focus a little more on speed, and you will probably do way more damage than what you lose chants attributes to speed. Also, if your favorite weapon got a board and is too heavy, you can always switch to another for a while until you solve the weight/speed problem.

TL;DR you can't remove boards however you can switch out boards if you find the same board for your item in case you didn't like the original board. regarding the weight increase and such... you just gotta live with it if you already put a board in, I recommend going to a reset crystal or using a reset pot and setting speed to around 80 give or take 10 points depending on weapon and or shield.
