This game as a new single player mode called Arrange with a Gradius-style powerup system. That's it-otherwise it's the exact same game.

Isn't the screen a bit bigger on monitors? It feels like there's more game on the screen, but I could be wrong...

It also seems to support higher resolution IIRC, but I'm still happily in 1080p land...

It supports higher output resolutions, comes with the arranged soundtrack on board, has a new "Arranged Mode" (a.e. Arranged Boost/Original/Unlimited/Time Attack), ships have additional color variants.

As many threads already pointed out, Arranged Mode is worth it on its own. It changes the core gameplay drastically.

Plus, the temporary extra discount for those who already own World Ignition makes it worth it.

Really, the only significant difference between World EXplosion and World Ignition is Arrange mode. If you don't have World Ignition already, get World EXplosion instead. If you liked World Ignition and wanted a mode that plays a bit differently, also get World EXplosion. If you have the old Crimzon Clover with the in-game shop where you have to spend points to gain 1-time-use continues and unlock other features... absolutely get World EXplosion.
