How to beat Scholar of Corruption?
I've attempted this multiple times and my deck gets filled with so many of the dead cards that just drain your health when you pull them and I just can't compete.

Any advice?

Is there a particular hero to use or start?

I am having the same issue. He adds 3 cards to your hand that will drain health and it costs 3 energy to remove it. It is also at range 2 so he will walk away from you first. this means at the bare minimum to keep your hand empty and attack him you have to waste 4 energy.

I have tried this level 5 times. I tried to rush with Tengu where I just ran at the cultist and got him down to half hp before he killed me with his bomb.

I then tried Kappa and ignored the The cultist attempting to get stronger by farming gold and cards. This failed because Oni over ran me so then I restarted this time clearing spawners. I used Charge cards to deal damage and move but I still could not out DPS him.

I then tried the Tengu strat but slow and steady like Kappa. I focused on revenge and dash, but then realized I didn't take enough damage to trigger revenge on most turns. Maybe heavy focus on flight or strength would be better

I then attempted a ranged poison Ogumo but I had trouble clearing fast enough to not lose to main objective.

I am not sure if I was unlucky with some runs but I feel like I have tried everything I can think of and nothing gets close to winning. Maybe these ideas will help you,but I have 100% done the rest of the missions up to this point so I am not sure how to get stronger.

Hey, check out the developer stream on the Mahokenshi storepage. It is a playthrough of this exact level!

I think, this mission needs a rebalance. I mean, the goal to kill the scholar before he reaches the second viallge is nearly impossible.
You need to rush to him, while you have to defeat all the other goblins etc. you trigger!
Then there spawn enough new enemies, where you are not able to close the pits in time.
The scholar himself is so annyoing, since he not just add thes **** cards to your deck - no, he does around 50 damasge every 3rd round.

Guys cmon....

I beat him on first try with the poison ninja (sorry forgot his name). I think it is important to get the +energy to 6 fast, so you always have enough energy to get rid of the curse cards.

Ok, did it too - but the bonus missions are really really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard to achieve....

You can see his attack intent if you click on him. You can run and cast the curses or stand and block as you need to.

for me this mission have a huge huge balance issue.

He was pretty tough but I went with a discard and draw build for the Tengu character.

If we're just talking about beating the mission, then yes there is a variety of strategy and characters than can work, but mostly I advise only engaging the boss before he burn the last village to come at him at full force and burst him down quickly.

On the other hand the side mission of killing him before he burn the second village seems very very hard. In fact, it's the only side mission I haven't completed even though I'm now currently way past that point in the campaign. There should definitly be a rework for it to be "before 3rd village is burned". Otherwise it's unusually hardcore in comparison to all the other side missions.

I suspect people are likely getting into a mindset when they fight the curse boss. It feels like people would naturally be inclined play all their curses or none at all.

Be sensible. Get rid of curses when you can, but drawing a curse a 2nd time might be worth the 2 damage and sad draw. But don't let them fester, as drawing dead cards is awful.

The challenge to save villages is really hard, but you don't have to brawl to distract him from destroying villages. He only does 2 damage a turn on his Curse of Health turns, so you can back off. Really though, my best tip is just come back to do that challenge late in your campaign cause it's hard.

Maybe you forgot, that the boss will do around 30-50 damage every 4-5 rounds plus the damage from the cursed cards.....

the trick is to agro-ing the boss before it reach the 2nd village, and try running from it while finding cards, levelup.... do not attempt to kill it before 2nd village, you simply do not have time to collect resources.
Once you have enough energy to clean all the curse cards, you can slowly beat it down.
Ruby's character slow is helping alot to kiting it.

I know the devs marked this as the answer, but I've tried this so many times and it is just not working for me. Maybe I'm just getting bad RNG, but I am not getting the extra energy stuff. Had that appear in the castle once.

I guess I'm just done with this game. Retrying it over and over again to just get good RNG isn't fun.

This mission feels absolutely impossible. I haven't even been able to get him below half health in 8ish attempts.

Key to the Scholar of Corruption is clearly deciding your path and minimizing small mistakes. Turns are reasonably scarce, the longer you roam around the closer you get to defeat. You want to roam around as long as possible to accumulate all the power you can (definitely visit the shrines) but not too long so that the Prophet comes close to destroying the last village.

A bunch of tips:
1. Get the most out of your turns
2. Use your energy wisely
3. Choose your path meticulously
4. Predict the direction of the Prophet
5. Upgrade your strong cards first
6. Focus on increasing your base stats such as strength, base draw and energy
7. In the beginning of the level try to accumulate one or two strong movement cards
8. Do not add any and all cards to your deck just because they are free. If there is a card that you never want to play it takes up a space for a far better card. (Consider removing strikes)
