Some gameplay questions
1. Are the sumo wrestler/ninja unlocked over time or do I have to do something specific?

2. Can the final level of the tutorial (level 8) be finished? It teaches you to run and then I get swarmed by more enemies than I can beat. Also, should I use the charm that sets me on fire? It doesn't seem to be a good idea.

3. I've beaten the first two proper levels but then the third is a massive step up in difficulty. Any tips for getting through it? Do i need to grind, if so what specs should I concentrate on?

  1. They are unlocked after beating main missions.(The 3rd and 5th if I recall correctly)
You can also unlock them temporarily by jumping 10 times in front of the temple door.

  2. Not sure that part can be beaten I've yet to got back and try. The flaming charm should only be equipped if you have other charms that keep you from dying from it and synergize with it. Otherwise you can throw it at enemies they auto equip any charms you throw at them.

  3. You don't need to grind, just probably need to get more familiar with the game: What you can get away with, how to deal with certain enemies, when to use certain items etc.

Thanks for the reply.

Third boss is too hard at the moment. Takes ages to get to him and then I'm fighting him for like 10 to 15 mins and barely chipping away with my attacks.

I know I've got to hit him in the back but with him being tall it's just so difficult.

Aim for his head too. Save some bamboo spears if you can and go for the head when it is safe to do so like when he is downed.

You don't need to hit his actual back, just need to hit him from behind or his head with throwables.

You could also try to save some focus and invulnerability herbs to make it easier.

You can also save some negative charms to throw at him, though I'm not actually sure how well they work against bosses. (They definietly work on some bosses that are just beefed up special mobs but actual boss mobs seemed to remove them or are just immune to fire.)

That does still seem like a vague strategy for me. After a couple of herbs that's not a lot of throwables (assuming I even find that many) given that they don't really seem to take much health off of him. Blast Orbs seem particularly useless. I'll give it a go though.

Bamboo spear does a lot of damage if you hit a head shot. I've seen it crit up to 1.8k damage and that's without any +throw damage%. Throwing knife/Kunai can do respectable damage if you get a head shot as well.

I will answer to your 3rd question, it's really easy to beat the giant actually, you don't even need to fight him, prior to the Boss stage focus on finding the Heavenly charm (it keeps doing damage to the enemy if it can't fly), stack up on food and things that you may find useful like the invincible herb and the paralysis orb (both aren't needed but hey), when you'l get to the giant, throw him a paralysis orb if you have one, go behind him and throw the heavenly charm to him, if you don't have the paralysis orb you'l have to dodge his jumping attack and then throw the charm at his back, after doing this you just need to run around dodging stuff while watching him die :steammocking:, if you want to speed things up you can throw bamboo spears at his head for massive damage, when his health drops to half the floor will collapse, there's a table on that room that you can interact with, it will make bamboo spears drop from above, you know what to do with them :D, the strategy also works vs the tengu boss but you'l need a different charm for it, if ya need more pro tips let me know.

lol I assumed that charm wouldn't work on a boss. Do all of the charms work? I should use them more freely than I have. Guess I am just too used to rpgs where the bosses are always immune to status effects.

I'm not sure about that cuz the flaming one didn't work on the Steam-Powered Giant (i tried it) but the heavenly one did and that's all you need, trust me, problem is, you need to be lucky enough to find one after going thru one of the many red portals, don't use the randomly exploding charm on the giant, that charm is what you should use VS the tengu.

You absolute legend, Daniel. This worked. I had a couple of Heavenly Charms and a few other goodies. The first half of the battle (up to the floor collapse) took longer but went well and the second half he died pretty instantly. Happy with that!

Ugh! The next short mission has him as the boss but now you don't get any throwables really. Pure RNG dependence for it. This game is getting on my last tit to be honest.
