At this time there are no plans for a career mode.
I think this is a very big oversight. Games need a progression system to keep people interested. I think a great way to implement this would be to have unlockable liveries for aircraft after each scenario completed for a start.
In most cases, I agree, but this is a simulation game meant to simulate being a ground handler at an airport. As such, irl ground handlers go home, come back tomorrow and start the day fresh. There's no "we left the plane halfway done and can continue it now." The point is that you do as much as you can, then come back the next day.
There's nothing that can be gained from a progression system aside from points in the top right.
Hard disagree, there is a lot to be gained with progression systems, including retention of players and interest to new players.
It's their game though, I just hope it works out for them.
Can you explain it for me, please? I'm a hardcore gamer myself, I understand the benefit of a progression system. but my point is, in AirportSim, there is nothing to be gained from it. Progression system or not, you still play the game the exact way. You don't get any rewards or anything from having 5k accumulated points.
I ask this genuinely, can you please explain what benefit there is in a progression system where there is no reward for having a long, continuous game save?
I am not sure what a hardcore gamer even is? How does one become a hardcore gamer? I have been gaming since I was 6 years old, I am now 51 years old, does that make me a hardcore gamer? I don't know it just kind of feels like a weird flex to throw out there to try and prove you are more of a gamer than me or something? It's just a strange way to open your post.
Rewards are the point of a progression system so saves would have to be implemented too I have already described in previous posts a simple way that a progression system could be viable, new aircraft liveries, perhaps also new airports that are unlocked only after you have completed previous scenarios, this is an easy and simple way to make players feel like they aren't just completing busy work and chores, I am sure there are many other ways that progression could be implemented.
Sorry, you misunderstood By "hardcore gamer" I mainly meant, I play a lot of games just like you, so I understand your point. Sometimes developers and moderators only have experience with one game, or are casual gamers, and don't understand the benefits of certain suggestions. By no means was I insinuating I'm more of a gamer.
I'm not opposed to a progression system, I just don't think it will change anything with AirportSim. At the end of the day we'll still be turning the same planes. Though, I am completely against liveries and airports being locked behind progression. For a game of this style, I like having the freedom of today playing at Keflavik, and tomorrow Key West.
For new players, I'm sure that's also a turn off. Imagine you first hear about AirportSim and Key West, and that's where you work irl and you want to see how it lines up in a game. Well, too bad so sad, you have to unlock it first.
The demo captured my imagination and so I was always going to play. But I'll admit that on first hearing that there was no career included, my initial reaction was, still want to play, but I'll wait for a sale.
That said, I watched a couple of extensive YouTube videos and by the end of them I was itching to play again. So now my wallet is £26 lighter. Curses! :) At the end of the day it's horses for courses isn't it. I do think you'll lose a few initially with the absence of a career. But it seems like a really fun game, so maybe they'll pick it up later. :)

It is fine.....neither of us are necessarily correct, we just have different opinions on how the game should be, I might even be in the minority, I am prepared to accept that.
I don't think in this age of paid micro-transactions that players would complain that they had to actually play the game to unlock an airport I think they would see this as a breath of fresh air in todays gaming environment, rather than having to hand over cash to unlock something. I know I am being critical of the fact no progression system is planned but I give credit where it is due, I am having fun with this game and I am keen to see how it evolves.
Maybe im a weirdo, but sometimes completing games makes me put it aside as there's no more worlds left to conquer, while more open ended games don't have that psychological finished flag, and il keep playing on long after i might otherwise have.
