This EA version seems like a glorified demo
It created a negative first impression. The game seems small when it really isn't. There's a massive, elaborate world out there, already with some resources and nest locations (I even discovered how and where tainted nests are launched from). The problem is that we can't get to it. Grab Ragna and go check out the island north of the starting one (flying upwards), resources may be scattered but it would be awesome to build a settlement there.
Of course, many of these islands will be tied into the storyline at some point but that should not be reason to prevent us from building on them. If it happens that an update breaks savegames because of existing settlements, then so be it. It is Early Access after all.
The fact it throws up a link to the demo feedback form when you repair the airship shows how little this was prepared for EA and is just really an extended paid demo.
Sorry, but can we get a bit more information? As in, is the Gameplay trailer real gameplay, and so, when do we get that build of the game? I understand if your team needs money to get any further with the game. But I hope that the team understands what the state of the industry is at the moment. And that honesty gets rewarded the most by possible clients.
Also, if the team really needs our feedback, it's handy to know where the team is in the development of this game. For now I hear just the same response. "We get there in the future" And that's fine! But only if there is a base game, where people get back to. And if we can help with that, then ask. Be transparent. Because for now this is a rocky start. And it's really a shame. This game has a lot of potential.
Thank you for keeping us in the loop here on Steam, it is much appreciated!
Have you ever thought about opening up the world for us? Of course there are some incomplete spots on the WIP islands but I really think it will do the game good if players have a larger map to play on. A WIP map is perfectly normal for an Early Access game so that's not a problem.
That way you can take your time with the storyline without it limiting the scope and enjoyment of the game (and avoid people losing interest in the game or the storyline losing its novelty).
Also, don't be afraid to "borrow" some features from Driftland. I really like the simple but deep resource and population management aspects of that game. Barbarian camps would be fun also.
