Portals not working

I am not sure what happened with this game, I used to play it on an older computer and it worked out great. A few months ago I got a new computer, but with the same operating system, and now the magic portals don't work anymore. I conquered all of the enemies at the portal site, and a coresponding portal appears near my town, but when I click on the portal, nothing happens. This really hinders the game play making it very difficult and tedious to run back and forth to the town, especially on a large map. Does anybody know how to fix this? Also, I can't zoom in/out with the mouse wheel anymore. Does anybody know how to fix that?

Apparently I needed to update my grahphic card driver. I still can't zoom in or out, but at least the portals are working again.

can't zoom either. Is there any fix for that? The camera is way too close...

You want this to be a different game, apparently. There is no "view from further away" capability. You can see what is immediately around you or look at the region map. The game designer's intent is to keep you guessing about what's just outside the screen.

Be careful. This is an intermittent issue. It could return. I had it happen randomly to me in the middle of a game. I ported back, and suddenly the portals no longer worked, and I could not get them to work in that game again. I started a new game, they were fine.

Make the window smaller. To do that, go to the edges of the window and resize, like any other windows application.

The various external links does not seem to work.
Can anyone explain to me how to use the portals.

I know that whenever I capture a new portal, a copy of it appears near my home city.
Now when I hover my mouse over the portals, it becomes a hand.
What do I do next?

Thanks a lot for any explanation.

Normally you click on the portal and it transports you to the corresponding portal you captured. This allows for quick travel to and from your base. It is especially useful to speed up travel time to attack new sites, or to quickly return to your base to defend against raiders.
