Portals stopped working

I was playing this game last weekend without issue and today in two different new games portals are no longer teleporting. graphics drivers are up to date.

Had the same issue.
Somehow, it got fixed by installing the second instance of a game - old one from CD disc, vanilla, no orc updates.
Launched it, loaded my savegame normally (I was using a human hero, so it loaded a savegame from a newer version just fine), and portals were working. Then i quited the vanilla game, launched the other (with Orc lords), and portals started to work there too.
