It is kind of randomly generated. My islands are in different locations that on my wife's game. So it randomized the island locations, but you'll still have all of the same islands.
Here's what I've found, my names for them...
*Radio Tower Island - You start here
*Pirate's Bay Island - It's got a pirate flag on a tall rock and a bay in the middle with an old building.
*Plane Wreck Island - You'll find a small jet crashed on this one and find red sticky notes about it. Big cat here...be careful.
*SOS Island - A big SOS in logs on this one. Another big cat.
*Arch Island - The main feature of this island is a large rock arch.
*Lighthouse Island - There is a lighthouse on this one. Another big cat here.
*Tiny Islands - A small group of 5 islands.
Where are the others!!! Help!!!!
You should be able to notice all of them while sailing the sea.
The islands are basically set up like a clock. Theres always 1 in the middle with 6 around it. Varying in distance, not a perfect circle.
And the islands do change locations with a new game
And just to compare the names I call the islands to JL
~Black rock- island with 4 black rock masses. 2 large on the outside 2 smaller ones in the
middel, SOS
~Boeing- plane wreck
~Radio
~Lighthouse
~Small- the smallest island, (arch)
~Recursive- island with a lake in the middle (pirates bay) I might start using pirates bay
~And last but not least, Coc**ne islands. Theres coca and coffee plants on them
HA HA HA...nice, use it.. I called it Pirates Bay because it has a bay (1) and there is a pirate flag attached to one of the pointy rock on the perimeter of the island. Actually, my wife and I both found a lyre at the top by the flag...check it out.
I too try to find the middle island and then map them out from there. I'm not brave enough to swim around for 15 minutes, so I wait till I build my first simple raft which is the fist thing I do.
To the OP...if you climb to the top of some of the taller structures, on top of Boeing/Plane Wreck island, the top of the Radio Tower or the top of the Arch you should be able to spot more islands from there.
7 islands in total. The islands are shuffled and the vegetation is procedurally generated.
