How do I make a rope?
I can't make an axe without a rope.

You need a Spinning Wheel. It is in you Journal, gear icon top tab. Cut down Yucca Plants for the leaves and put them into spinning wheel. Make sure this is one of the first things you do when starting game.

You can also make a knife to cut down Yucca plant,

They should really explain this better when first starting.

In theory all you need is a small wooden knife, you are never soft locked so you can craft them any time, not just at the start. We do have plans to improve the tutorial and include making ropes.

. If your uncle left a camp on the starting island with a basic tent, bed, fire, spinning wheel and the first cassette tape it would be a much more enjoyable starting experience in my opinion.
