It really depends on what you are trying to do, and on what mode. Party style for example has random item placements so its hard to make a route, but you can still open the presents early on and swap useful items around the school. If you get several questions wrong (Like trying to get Classic's secret ending), Baldi will be quicker for a bit then slow back down to regular speed.
There is still a few tips though that apply for all of them, and it is to collect the two interior notebooks first since they are usually the hardest to reach, alongside getting as much distance from Baldi as possible and try to be stealthy near the end. If he sees or hears you, he will try to reach your location and chase you down, but he will wander if he doesn't know where you are. If he does see you, try to round a few corners and make him lose you. If he's approaching, hide around a corner and pray he passes you.
Most characters seem harmful towards you, but there are a few ones that can help you under the right conditions. Arts and Crafters for example will teleport you near an exit that you haven't reached yet, but he also brings Baldi along for the ride. The Principal puts you into detention, sure, but he can teleport you away from Baldi if he is right behind you, and the tape makes Baldi forget where you are and start wandering again.
In the Demo style, Baldi can't reach you if he is upside down relative to you, he can't see past a certain distance in the fog, floods will hold doors open (allowing you to be silent when entering a room) and whirlpools teleport you.
Enabling subtitles also helps greatly, since it basically acts as a radar of sorts.
Every item has a good use like WD-NoSquee allows you to open a door silently and hide in a room or grab a notebook, as long as Baldi doesn't see you go in there. The Boots stops things from moving you around like Gotta Sweep, Cloudy Copter, 1st Prize and Whirlpools. BSoda is good for long halls. Scissors can cut jumpropes and robot wires. Faculty Badges allow you to break rules without punishment and be ignored by most characters. Alarm Clocks can distract Baldi if you aren't in his line of sight (And he will check louder noises first, as in Exits, Detentions, and Clocks are louder than doors)

-perpendicular of the hallway that leads to the door of the Principal's office
-in the hallway parallel of the cafeteria

the interior room closer to the front is more dangerous since it's right by a couple of intersections and a corner, so there's a lot of ways for Baldi to get there. the one parallel the cafeteria is only a little less dangerous, since there's only 3 entrances to that hallway
