Riven
Demo optimized for Apple Silicon?
Hello,

Thanks for the demo. I was waiting for it and I tried on my MacBook Air M2.

Everything runs smoothly only on the lowest resolution. On medium or above it looks terribly laggy, even with 30FPS cap.

Am I missing something? For sake of comparison, Death Stranding runs like a charm at high settings without any frame drop.

Hence my question, is the demo build also for ARM chip or only Intel (that would explain the performance while using Rosetta)?

[SOLUTION]

It is indeed ARM-based, thanks mackit for your help.

You can see the game running on the M2 MBA here:

The demo isn’t even available for Intel Chips, so I guess it’s just a general optimization issue.

Thanks mackit for your answer.

I was able to run Riven on my M2 MacBook Air with pretty good graphics (for a fanless laptop). The culprit was the Effects settings, pretty demanding.

I made a video about it. I go through several presets, then I show what is the best settings overall (imo).

If you are interested, here it is:

Effects seem to be the resource hog on my M1 Macbook Air. If I turn it down from medium to low, I get much better performance. The other parameters don't seem to make as drastic a difference as effects.

i have an i5-13400f and RTX 4060 TI (amongst other hardware) that i built at XMas. It's a Mid-range PC, but i only play 1440 or 1080. So this in 1440 with all settings maxed and DLSS at Quality and Gsync, i get 105fps -that's my custom refresh rate btw.
