If you visit Tay, get the code for opening the fissure, then use it before capturing Gehn and before freeing Catherine, Gehn will shoot Atrus.
Yes, but if you instead load an earlier save before you would have learned the code, it happens as they describe, no one showing up.
Unfortunately it is you, and not Atrus, that must now pay the price for this foolishness. Oh well, there's still time....
1: Trap yourself in the book before going to Riven. Atrus is upset at your foolishness.
2: Trap yourself in the book on Tay. The rebels wonder what you were thinking.
3: Trap yourself in the book on Riven before meeting Gehn.
4: Trap yourself in the book on Riven after meeting Gehn.
5: Follow Gehn through the book, freeing him and trapping yourself.
6: Open the star fissure before trapping Gehn. Gehn ambushes Atrus and kills him.
7. Open the star fissure after trapping Gehn, and before rescuing Catherine. Atrus is upset.
8. Open the star fissure after trapping Gehn, after rescuing Catherine. Good ending.
9. Irritate Gehn by refusing to trap yourself in the book three times. Gehn shoots you.
10. Return to Tay after trapping Gehn, then trap yourself in the book. Gehn now has access to Tay.
11. Open the star fissure before going to Tay. Nobody shows up and you fall through the fissure with no narration. (Not sure if intentional, since in theory you can’t know the code before retrieving Catherine’s journal, but if you load a savegame after knowing it, you can use it.)
(The one I posted in the question)
I would love to see the Moeity guards go full-on Skyrim/Oblivion guard on Gehn.
Cyan, if you did this during development, I demand you release the footage!
