Riven
No prisoner on Jungle Island before animal puzzle
I'm completely stuck and had to look up what I'm doing wrong. On Jungle Island, after finding the totem that is underwater, I rode the submarine over to the cage looking thing and took the "lift" up to where I'm supposed to free the prisoner. However, there's no prisoner in the cage. What did I miss? I've gone back through everything and looked at walkthroughs and simply can't figure out what I did wrong.

They must have escaped some other way.

Did you open the cell and there was no one inside?

For better or worse, Riven '24 doesn't force you to look at a lot of incidental things that happen. Unless you peek into the cell as soon as you get up there, you will not see him. But he is there, for a bit.

It's the same way with the alarms and the villagers fleeing.

His presence isn't really required for you to progress, though...

Yeah I noticed I didn't see him leave the cell and thought that was an oversight, but I underestimated Cyan!

If you don't know what to do in that prison or cant see anything, you are missing a tool (you need this to finish the game).
Too bad that tool is not in any logical location, as in not on a path or area you are expected to go. But you'll find on the Island you are at.

That tool is possibly the biggest change at all.

When I wanted to continue through the prison cell, I initially tried to interact with the drain grate on the ground without any use, just because I remembered that from the OG. ^^

Yeah, I really feel like the Moiety agent at the beginning should have left it for you, or something. It would have felt more intentional than just hanging on a cliffside where you could have technically missed it, or where one of Ghen's people could have found it. It would have been harder to connect it to the paint and the jungle island, maybe, but as it is now, it feels a bit "lucky" to find it.

I missed it completely first time having a look around that place. Wasn't until i watched some videos after getting completely stuck (as you do when you don't have it), i saw that stupid thing :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

I don't think it was meant for us. It's set against the cliff where the painting of the fish glyph is hidden. You can see it up and the to right of the ladder. I think someone was using it to see while they painted the glyph. . With the overturned bucket nearby, it seems more like the person using it was taken by surprise. Perhaps the prisoner was caught painting the glyph? So we do indeed just happen upon it, luckily.

On Prison Island there is a telescope pointing directly at it. The device was the easiest find in the game

I am having the hardest time with the animal tomb puzzle. I have had up to 6 slabs upright at one time before the 7th slab causes all the rest to fall. I just don't understand the logic behind the puzzle. Love the game but when the logic doesn't make sense, it makes me want to throw in the towel. Looking a hints defeats the purpose of a game like this

Do you mean when "your" logic doesn't make sense? The game logic is flawless.

The hints are there you just did not see them. And I like how they are done this time around a lot more than the original game which had some pretty dodgy hints for it.

The logic is you are missing something or overlooked something.
