Motion sickness?
Have there been any changes to the game for motion sickness since the demo. I had to abandon playing that after about 10-15 minutes.

Hi all, what would you all like to see in the game to help prevent motion sickness when playing in 2D mode? Can you describe what exactly makes you motion sick? I can pass feedback along to the team. Note that suggestions like "please make third-person mode" won't be possible to implement, but things like "allow me to set a higher FOV than the max" might be.

my wife got motion sick while watching me playing the full game, so I'm afraid no, there are no improvements...

I purchased this remaster on GOG. I'm getting motion sickness as well and I play FPS games all the time. I turned FOV up to max (which looks awful) and turned off motion blur - still no luck. If anyone has any ideas please share!

Thanks so much for replying. Is there a way to place a dot in the middle of the screen? Like a cross hair? I think mirrors edge did a similar thing.

Honestly I don't know why I'm having issues with this. I play heaps of FPS games but I can only handle playing the remaster for 5 minutes before feeling super dizzy.

Its such as shame because the remaster looks so good.

I wonder -- have you tried disabling "Smart cursor mode" in the settings? This would leave your cursor visible all of the time, and perhaps get you the sort of feeling you are looking for with a constant frame of reference.

I'll try it and report back :)

Still no dice I'm afraid :( Any assistance the devs could offer would be greatly appreciated.

If you play just until you start feeling even a little bit motion sick and then stop, take a break and try again later, after a couple days you will grow "VR legs" and will be able to play a very long time without any motion sickness.

Hey. I'm not playing on VR. Just playing on my 34 inch monitor. As I said earlier, I play all kinds of FPS games. None of them give me motion sickness like this does. Its such a shame because I really like what they've done. If you have any other solutions please let me know :)

There is a group of settings under controls called “comfort”. Have you adjusted them?

That only shows Vehicle comfort, quick travel on ladders and hide vehicle transitions. Doubt any of those would have an impact.

Does the FOV slider help at all?

Typically those are going to be the sources of motion sickness, since they take control away from the player. I would suggest at least trying with them off.

Maybe check your overall graphics and performance settings? Sometimes poor performance can cause motion sickness, as the movement is out of sync with your inputs. Also turn off anything along the lines of motion smoothing / acceleration for the mouse ( I can't remember off hand what riven has ), again because that can result in movement in the game not matching what you are doing.. causing an upset.

Also, sometimes when you click on things you get moved a bit, or the camera might try to follow something ( like a character during a cutscene ), trying clicking to get control back as soon as possible.

Turned the FOV up to the max but didn't work. The game runs fine. I have an RTX 3080TI and its running on an M.2. I can only handle the game for less than 5 minutes before I start feeling sick. Its weird because I play heaps of FPS games. I am playing on a resolution of 3440 x 1440

Afaik when you suffer from motion sickness you should DECREASE the FOV not increase it.
