The situation may appear dire, but you can use it to improve your skills. Godspeed.
The small bags some enemies drop at the beginning can cure poison too, keep that in mind.
Good to know! I knew it wasn't permanent and stacked but that's more precise.
OP, who are you using as a character? First time around with the knight I also had trouble with orc blade enemies. The "Quick Kill" move ( attack right + attack right) is very good at stunlocking them, provided you have it unlocked. Try and bait the jump attack and either back up and then close in for a quick hit, or strafe around the enemy to flank it.
The amazon "Whirlwind" is really effective against them, just back up to dodge the jump attack, then get real close and do a basic attack + left right, then roll away to dodge the counter attack. Her range really dominates orcs.
Definitely don't use your unique healing potion to remove poison. As 400% said, the travel rations item removes poison, so leave it on the ground for later on (helps that the level loops in on itself). Hit F1 and go to the Items tab to see what removes poison. Otherwise just smash every crate and pot on your way to keep your health up, although at your level crust will help marginally, cheese and especially meat are more useful.
Travel rations? What are those? All I've found in this level is some cheese and crust and that's it.
Always explore a stage thoroughly, inspecting each and every nook and cranny. Most starting areas secrete ~3 500HP potions (dwarf's has 4).
In Tel Halaf, the only place i needed healing was the big fat orc, guarding the entrance to the inner circle. Goblins are puny. One of the fat orcs in the way carries an 150HP potion. And if you break all items on the go, there is enough food to replenish an entire life bar twice. The first goblin has a Travel Rations that restores life and cures poison. Scour for items and scavenge the dead out of their possessions.
And don't worry about healing. A special weapon you find at the end of level 4, if you learn using it well enough against enemies, against non-undead enemies that is, works like a portable healing potion of sorts. Invest some time and gaming skill to master this game's mechanisms, it is a real gem.
It will get much easier when you kill the poison blade orc, because you can pick it up for yourself and that's a good upgrade from your...mace iirc? Try to visit all the barracks (both lower and top floors) to thin the enemy force and get some food. You should be able to face the big orc one on one.
