Faster Gameplay?

So, to build a pretty big city, the people start to slack off, a lot. Having a brick layers with 400 bricks next to some projects and 8 brick layers Right there, still takes 10-20 minutes for them to build, on the 2.50 game speed.

Am I missing something... or is there a way to increase the speed more?
