Slowest game ever !

How on earth do you get anywhere in this game ? I spent hours, days, weeks, trying to get somewhere but the progress is so slow I feel like it would take years to make any real progress. Is there something I should be doing ? I am using the turtle formation and that seems to work well and I spawn beta pins from overcharging but no matter what I do it takes about a day to get anywhere significant and that only nets me a couple of thousand to spend.

Are you combining pins to upgrade? Are you using the unlocks in the "craft" section to make stuff buffs and things to keep it moving? It's a bit slow but not nearly as slow as you describe. I think you are not doing one of the pins or unlocking something?
