Publisher confirmed the Dev team aren't involved in the investigation at all the IP is managed by the Publisher. You may have seen other instances like these with other Publishers example Sony and HellDivers. While in our sphere [gamers] it seems like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ move, it's important to know how these things work and why and IP must be defended if there is evidence of potential infringement. It's part of having an maintaining an IP much like having other rights.

Or how about you just give up and delete your trash?
By that logic the seatbelt shouldn't be protected by IP either, but it was; not because it held you in place but because of how it achieved this technically. IP isn't about what it's also about how something is accomplished.
