If you level up the tool seller in the jungle he'll eventually sell baseball bats, which are the best one I've found so far. High damage, and stun helps a lot!

In Slav, In the north you have a small "stand/shop" selling machette's.
(So you see the t-juction on the map north-west of the "venice/water area" of slav
