A single lock up or spin can completley ruin your race
When a driver locks up and goes off track they will literally just sit there and let every car go past them until they are last. Even when there's room on track or gaps in traffic for them to get moving again. Its enough to restart an entire race for me because it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying to watch them sat there not even attempting to get back on track.

Yep. And same for pit stops you come in first from first place and sit there until all other have left the pit lane until you move into last place.

Your drivers are the ones that F'd up, IRL the rule is you must rejoin the track safely, the AI isn't going to driving into a train of cars.

Ohhh no my driver locked up, better restart the race, why even bother playing?

LOLz No. Lucky if they rejoin at all in real life depending on the surface. Sometimes they simply get stuck in the gravel and that's the only issue because of a lock up. Game over.

I've had my drivers literally stop and wait for the cars I just attempted an over-cut on to go through and then set off again

I think people misunderstand what is going on. As I understand the game, just like Football Manager, you only see something that is representing something that happens in the simulation engine. But what we see isn't necessarily accurate to what actually happened. This is also why spins and lock up's can look pretty much identical.

In real life, spinning or going off track can cause a car to stop completely, they have to rejoin by going onto a escape route that can take extra time (don't think there is such a thing represented in the game) sometimes they get beached and either it takes time to come back on track or they get stuck completely. It's not totally unrealistic how it is in game, stuff happens in real races like this. But certainly, it might have to be looked at if it's very frequent etc. Haven't had too much of that happen in my game. I find qualifiers much more in need of fixing with cars getting in the way.

I get that the visuals are just a representation of the AI so sometimes isn't quite what happened, the bigger problem here is that the AI is flawed so the representation is still based on something janky

I´m sorry but what AI? This game has nothing of a sort...

Of course there is AI, don't be silly.

Its just that they haven't added the letters Un between the A and the I.

I dont think thats actually the case.
You wouldnt get stuff like car slowing down to a crawl bug when they meet other cars exiting the pit lane when you are in viewing mode at 1x viewing speed. If you actually move to higher speed mode where you dont view the cars directly magically this isnt happening anymore.

This game is so dumb with the spins and lock ups. Ive had my drivers spin or lock up and crash 4 races on the bounce now and its completely ruining my career. I see no AI crashing on other teams just mine its just ridiculous they need to fix the probability of crashing and lock ups as its far to frequent.

Are you continuously driving on the aggressive settings? Because those increase the risks of incidents pretty sure

Not convinced on that. My first season showed the opposite. Could be i got unlucky with RNG, but i had a number of races on permanent 5/5 push and no lockups. And, Vettel binned it twice with DNFs on 2/5 and 3/5 push.
The lockups seemed more common on 3/5 that 5/5 too.

My guess is that's how it's intended to work. But, i think it needs a tweak.

In real life, most lockups lead to drivers missing an apex and loosing a tenth or 2.
Here, they go off the track and stop.
Aswell as just when and why drivers spin/lockup needs attention. They also need to reduce the punishment for lockups. I.E you're driver doesn't sit stationary at the side of the track.
MO938 Sep 22, 2022 @ 4:23pm
Think of a lockup in this game as a driver mistake, not a lockup.

Maybe they need to change the wording in-game to mistake or error, rather than the word lockup
Vladoot Sep 22, 2022 @ 4:33pm
you have to understand you're watching a simulation. the game is simulating that loss of time, and it takes that long for him to get back in. the game can only show you that as him sitting there, when in "reality" maybe he had to slowly roll through the sand, or had to get unstuck, or any reason you can think of really.
