Need help managing powertrain
I believe I need help understanding how to manage the health of the powertrain on the car.

I'm only at race 5, Miami, and my gearbox on both cars, are at 35%, needing to be replaced. I feel this is very early. Am I pushing the car too much, or what is going on? There has been no crashes.

What can I do to better manage this?

everything you go affect the powertrain, how hard you push how many laps in practice and race.
the powertrain youre using aswell also does that too some wear faster than others, after a certain point you need to dedicated one of everythinh for practice and one for the race.
You will get penalties down the line that is inevitable, which like real life, but you can delays it as much as you can by using older part for practice only.

Switch to low engine mode and recharging ers for training sessions. Don't crash. Always use the worst part for trainings and K1 and switch to parts in better shape for where your really need them. You can manage this way with 0-1 new part per season per car.

What I do is run a light pace during practice and only do enough laps to get 2 stints of full feedback per session. If I get to 85% confidence or better early, no more stints. This helps keep the powertrain healthy for quali and race.

Is the powertrain part in yellow? You can still use it for practice. Don't switch it to a newer part until quali, or even the race if you don't care where you qualify.

Don't run the whole race on heavy pace. If you're in the tow of a leader or in a DRS train, be content with a balanced pace. It's helping you save fuel. When do I push? When I have clean air in front of me.

The higher your pace and the higher your fuel usage, the more wear you're putting on the powertrain. The more you deploy ERS, the more wear you're putting on ERS.

Honestly, it's not a big deal if you're running out of allocated parts as long as you have the money to buy extra. It's $1M per engine/gearbox/ERS unit. Actual teams do it in the season. Once you get to that point, just strategize if you can. If you have to replace one unit, and you know you're going to need to replace another soon, just replace them both so you have a grid penalty for one race and not two.

Practice uses ~10%, Quali + Race ~5%.

1st Race you make everything with the Same Part. After that you use the worst Part for practice and the 2nd worst for the Race.
That way, depending on the powertrain, you will never loose Performance or at Most a little Bit for a few races. 9% parts are enough for practice.

I Auto p1, adjust sliders, Auto p2, adjust sliders, Auto p3. Still Always 90+ Setups.

It's not low engine mode. If you look at the tool tips, fuel usage doesn't effect engine wear. How hard you push on the tires effects engine wear. So, have 1/5 push for practice.
There is also tick boxes for run in clear air and avoid curbs.
Click those.

Seriously?
I thought the lift and coast level determined that. Crap, that throws a monkeywrench in my race plans.
