Is "break cooling" and "engine cooling" important?
Hi, guys!

Currently I'm 2nd season in McLaren and my current car performance is around 3rd except for "break cooling" and "engine cooling".

It is consistently ranked in the 1st to 3rd podium with 9R, but I am a little anxious because the cooling part is worst in car analysis.

Is it right to increase brake cooling and engine cooling in future parts development?
Or is it right to keep focusing on performance and speed to shake off the chase of the top three teams?

They both 'help' but, i remember seeing a post on reddit about them having the least impact.
Brake cooling does give you performance, and engine cooling aids engine wear to this but the effects seem to be pretty small.
Concentrating on other areas will provide better performance gains.

I am working on them, but as mentioned I think they have the least impact. For me engine cooling is the lowest just because you can just buy additional engine parts, $1m each isn't a lot even for early seasons Williams, and the penalty is negligible, if your a big team you can probably get back into the points. If you took over a lower team either it's early, and you probably wouldn't have scored anyway so no effect, or you are competing now in which case refer to the answer for top teams.

If your worries about it though I possible work around would be design parts without them, then research parts with just cooling to counter for next seasons parts etc?

Engine Cooling affects only the degradation rate of the engine parts (Engine, ERS, Gearbox). It's not essential.

Brake Cooling on the other hand is quite important. There are two separate facilities that give bonuses to it and for a good reason. If your brakes keep being hot, the odds of your drivers making an error get increased. It has been tested plenty of times by many players and the consensus about it is quite unanimous. There are 1 or 2 people that deny it, but their argument is not from testing, but because "the game/developers didn't say it". Well, they didn't say how exactly Dirty Air Cornering works too, but we can easily test and see it also has certain effects in the different percentage rates.

An important bit to remember - it doesn't matter where you are ranked in Brake Cooling. The important dynamic is between your Brake Cooling percentage and the other car stats. You can be 1st on the grid in Brake Cooling, but it may still not be enough if the car is too powerful. The best metric is your drivers. If they make constant errors, your Brake Cooling is lacking and their Control and Accuracy stats can't compensate the imbalance. The driver with lower Control/Accuracy will be like your canary in a coal mine. If he makes more errors, then you have to address the Brake Cooling. Or soon the better driver will start crashing too after the new upgrades.
