High temps increase tire wear, at least according to what the game told me.
I've always left the qualy on automatic so the drivers deal with the car and I haven't found any issues with doing this.
i have seen for myself that the amount you push on a tire impacts lap times more than anything else. So, as things stand with the game for my mileage, easing off would have a bigger impact on performance than hot tires and on full send.
1- Is dictated by the pace. Push hard, tires will heat up, slow down they will get cold.
2- Track temperature will have a big impact. Hot Miami weather will probably melt your soft tires when you push them and wear abnormally fast.
Heat will affect the rate of wear for the most part
Can't say if they hurt your pace. Better to push on hot tires if you need the time.
You just have to mind the accelerated wear rate.
So run the cars in light or conserve pace and then set them to full blast before the last turn to get a running start for qualy.
tyre temp just makes your tyres degrade faster.
for the race itself, it's currently much faster overall to run a harder tyre and push hard on it, than to run a soft tyre and try to preserve it (kinda realistic actually)
the downside is, on full push mode you'll also use substantially more fuel, and your drivers are more likely to make mistakes. but imo it's very much worth in most situations to have that extra long-term pace.
if you run soft on medium pace you'll easily be slower than hards on full push, and the hards will actually last longer.
of course having more grip is still great for overtaking, but what's the point if you have to pit after 12 laps because your tyres are dead.
also i don't think setup affects anything at all, except giving your driver some extra skill points.
Thats coz its just out lap, flying lap and in lap. So what automatic does is
Outlap: Conserve fuel, conserve tyres, harvest ERS
Flayin lap: Agressive. push, deploy
inlap: back to conserve, conserve,harvest
Same as you would do.
