DRS Activation Points Incorrect/Not Activating
The game comes with detailed maps of the tracks, showing DRS activation points and DRS zones, but the game seems to sometimes not track the cars and their distances properly, because sometimes the cars will go through the activation zone and won't activate DRS, even when within 1 second of the car ahead. And yet the AI cars behind seem to be able to activate DRS when they're between 1 and 2 seconds behind.
Is this a bug or a terribly designed difficulty setting?

It's not the DRS.
It's the timings themselves.
I've noticed this quite a few times.
The timings tell me a car is 1.2 seconds behind me but when i actually look behind the car they're right there and not 1,2 second behind.
Ive had it where it tells me i'm over 1 second behind a car while i'm clearly not.
When looking at the car itself it seems to activate the DRS at the right moment and distances behind other cars.

Yes. In nearly every race I can see my driver not activating DRS being clearly directly behind the opponent car.

That makes sense. There have been many times where the timing says that I'm way further behind than I actually am and I get screwed because my DRS doesn't activate, despite me being a car length behind the car in front.

It's an annoying bug.

I have noticed that in many races the DRS animation doesn't work on car 1. The Graphics shows it shut. But the DRS thingy on the interface lits up green and the DRS is active. This only happens on Car 1. The GFX always work for car 2.

But yeah, the time gaps are sometimes very wrong, or the GFX is. Where you can be right up someones rear spoiler and it claims to be 1.6s behind. Not sure if the graphics is wrong or the gap timing is.

Are you sure the car is actually within 1s in the DRS detection line? The rule is the car need to be within 1s in the detection line, not the DRS activation line. The activation line is only signalling when they can start activating DRS.

Also there's common visual bug where the wing doesn't seem to open. However the UI on the driver card always works. If the DRS icon on the UI is lit, then the driver is activating their DRS.

Yes, the car is easily within 1 second, sometimes it happens when the car is literally within a car length of the car in front. They cross the detection line, and then when they reach the activation zone, DRS does not activate. Whether the timing board says so, or not.
