In all seriousness, I think that the slicks do get progressively worse between 0mm and 1mm, before then hitting a huge cliff at 1mm. When the track is drying, boxing just as the track goes from 1mm to 0.99mm isn't as fast as if you wait a lap or two and box when the rainfall is ~0.4mm.
The wet tire will shred itself though and, with that, will experience faster falloff. That being said, it does seem like it's quicker to stay on the wet tire for an extra lap or so.
So, the 'idea' the game has that wets 'should' only be used passed 4.00mm is correct (if soundly implemented)
But, i kinda agree. That often you find inters used untill there's a dry line. But, wets would be no good for a long time leading up to that.
Worth also pointing out that the track tends to dry out completely in game, rather than having a dry line appearing.
So, there should be a point where slicks are far quicker. But, getting off line to make a pass should be a struggle.
dry tyres start to get equal in pace if you hit 0.5mm. thats why i delay my stops for 1-2 laps before going in for dry tyres and if you look closely, thats exactly what the AI does.
