Wet Tires are so broken
Track has 0.5mm of water on
Car ahead on wets
I'm on fresh drys

Yet the car ahead is pulling away by a second a lap??? Even if it was a RBR vs a williams, with that tire combo i should be pulling ahead.

Please fix.

0.5m of water? Tell your driver to get out and swim.

In all seriousness, I think that the slicks do get progressively worse between 0mm and 1mm, before then hitting a huge cliff at 1mm. When the track is drying, boxing just as the track goes from 1mm to 0.99mm isn't as fast as if you wait a lap or two and box when the rainfall is ~0.4mm.

The wet tire will shred itself though and, with that, will experience faster falloff. That being said, it does seem like it's quicker to stay on the wet tire for an extra lap or so.

what I have seen in my 3 seasons is until water is at 0mm keep intermediates on

I completely disagree with the logic here. If the track is moving up to 0.50mm of water, the dry tyres would probably be preferable to wets because the track temperature would still be high, and most of that water would be evaporating off the surface rather quickly. However, if the track has been wet for some time, and the water on the track has just come down to 0.50mm, wets (especially a well-worn set, as they would act more like an intermediate at that point) would be preferable to dry tyres, because with a cool track, and no dry line, you wouldn't be able to keep temperature in the dry tyres. In reality, F1 cars do not switch to dry tyres until there is almost no water on the surface of the track, at least for a large majority of the lap. The track would still be cool, and there would be a minute amount of water off-line, but overall, the amount of water on the track would be negligible (less than 0.10mm). While the "guide" says drys should be the fastest for situations where the water on track is less than 1.0mm, in reality, that would only be the case for a track that still near normal racing temperature.

Wets wouldn't be preferable unless there is standing water irl, as they are a much harder compound that the inters.
So, the 'idea' the game has that wets 'should' only be used passed 4.00mm is correct (if soundly implemented)
But, i kinda agree. That often you find inters used untill there's a dry line. But, wets would be no good for a long time leading up to that.
Worth also pointing out that the track tends to dry out completely in game, rather than having a dry line appearing.
So, there should be a point where slicks are far quicker. But, getting off line to make a pass should be a struggle.

thing is you can drive the whole race on mode 5 on wets, while you would need 3 or 4 sets of inters. wets are barely slower on inter conditions. since you can just use the highest tyremode non stop you outperform inters on their own turf. this is ridiculous. idk who tested that stuff, but if the same person is testing the current update we are in for a treat *chrm*.

dry tyres start to get equal in pace if you hit 0.5mm. thats why i delay my stops for 1-2 laps before going in for dry tyres and if you look closely, thats exactly what the AI does.
