Full warning
I recommend not getting this game, even as a expanse fan. This is easily the worst ‘telltale’ title that has ever been released, and I would barely suggest it worth a 75% off sale.

I wish they had made the remaining Bone episodes instead.

i agree it IS the worst telltale game but i however am a huge telltale fan so even though this game was a dissapointment i still support them and i hope that in 2024 we can except the wolf among us 2 (if it comes out)

I love it when people say worst game and dont even explain why. I do like sci-fi and i dont like telltale games but this looks pretty good to me.

Will you explain why?

I will now explain why. This is a different developer than old telltale, and they make one good change...the graphics. Much better. Where it goes awry is in the actual gameplay. While they want to use the old 'choices matter' mantra, very little of what you do actually matters in the grand scheme of things. The character interactions are so much more shallow than previous games to the point you really don't care about anyone, the story goes mostly nowhere because at the end of the day it's a prequel to the events of The Expanse.

The gameplay itself is really bad. It becomes a wheres waldo tier experience of looking for collectibles in space, which ends up being you floating in silence slowly towards things you think might hold items that other characters have requested...if you find these items it changes very little. The quicktime events are really bad, the puzzles are dumbed down and the final few episodes feel either so rushed or developed by one person because they're empty and lifeless. Yes, the game is in space, but it does a really bad job of telling a story worth caring about. Your crew is almost never around, and there is zero buildup. They either love or hate you within just a single encounter or two. Playing this game literally killed any hype I had for TWOU2, and I've played every single telltale game in existence.

As a fan of the show i very much enjoyed this. Drummer is one of my favorite characters and it was nice to see how it ties into the show with certain characters and their choices. Archangel was also fun and something different. The game also has a very nice graphical style in my opinion.

It should be pointed out this is clearly made by DeckNine who made two of the four Life Is Strange games and the New Telltale appear to potentially be little more than a publisher.

Personally I found none of the cast aside from Drummer to be compelling at all.

The exploration is also clearly being used to mask the length of the game as well.
The worst?
Hah, did you ever play the Jurassic Park title? :-D

But its not the best title, Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead Titles *are* better, especially WD for tension.

I've been enjoying it.
So much better than the show imo

I somewhat agree, if this wasn't about Drummer, arguably the best character in the series, this would be super flat. No real save system and unskippable dialogue is bad. Linearity is clear and the "game" is a walking sim with some QT events. They do nail some of the Expanse's feel for space and the setting. Would have loved deeper gameplay, I picked up a lot of salvage...for what?
For achievements I guess? :-P
Yeah, not very impressed, at all.
And it contained the dumbest choice I've yet to see in a TellTale game; do you stay to comfort the doc (do your job dammit!) or do you continue to try to prevent a world changing weapon from falling into the wrong hands? Priorities, priorities...
I was flabbergasted when that was singled out in the summary.
(sure he got some reason to be nervous, but no way in hell would I prioritize to rub his back while everything else was going on).
