"Failed to start the Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate And Update Service"
I get this pop up while before I can install this game and smite? Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? The rest of the internet has been useless and I've had a support ticket sitting on their website for three months.

Try this: (make sure tribes/smite is closed)
  1. Go to start and search for services.
  2. Right click on it and select run as administrator.
  3. Scroll down and look for "Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service"
  4. Right click on it and select either "start" or "restart".
  5. Wait for it to finish then open the game again.

Reinstall also does absolutely nothing
Your fix also didn't fix anything.

a good way that i found is to
1.) Goto view local services
2.) find "Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service" or as mine says "Hi-Rez Studios Authenticay..."
3.) double click it and select manual if it is disabled or set it to auto
4.) start the game
Just disable the windows' firewall

I fixed this ages ago, it has something to do with a security program. I remember booting up Reign of Kings and a pop up coming up which actually told me what was wrong. I think you have to either download something or uninstall something

Sorry i didn't see this years ago, lol. I'm now facing the same problem. I tried everything Google says, such as enable service, reinstall Hi-Rez Authenticate software, bla, bla. Nothing worked. Until i realised my antivirus (Kaspersky) was highlighting all Paladins and Hi-Rez related files as UNTRUSTED and NOT ALLOWED. I had to manually set all files flagged as untrusted to trusted to make it work. In your case, depending on your antivirus, you can try disabling your antivirus and/or flagging detected files as trusted (check quarantine as well). Good luck.

None of this is working.... The antivirus thing, reinstalling and installing...Every time I try to run the game it says Failed to Install the Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service.
When I run the installhirezservice.exe all it says is Failed to Install Hi-Rez Authenticate and Update Service... Please help

I found a Solution that worked for me
Steam->Library->Right click Paladins->Properties->Verify Integrity of Game Files->Wait about 5 minutes then reload the game

If you are not using steam Right click Paladins->Open file Location->Find Binaries (its somewhere around there)->Redist->Install all of the files in that folder

Don't know if anyone is still having this problem or not but here. I had this problem and I just changed my installation location and it worked for me. Like I have a folder on my desktop named Stein's Games V.2 and I installed Smite there and it loaded for me so try something like that and get back to me :3
