What is the best days and times to find active servers?
You can also have a look at this reddit thread, under Tribes Ascend / Direct Download you have, among other useful explanations, links to the non steam version of the game. The Hirez link is dead but the depositfile one seems to work. It’s probably safer to download it from steam, though.
Still.. need to figure out how to set up the login registration part that the community server has setup and ill be good to go.
Also yes, it runs with out steam, stand alone. I just got redone re-packing the game as its own independant installer, and all the server software needed to get it running on its own.
The verification system was made so you could keep the same nickname as on Hirez servers, to prevent anyone from impersonating anyone.
But if you run your own login server you don’t have to use the bot on the Hirez servers for verification, you can generate authcode manually:
https://github.com/Griffon26/taserver/blob/v2.6.0/docs/user_manual/getting_verified.md#getting-verified-if-the-server-administrator-is-not-using-taserverbot
or use the new verification mechanism, which use emails, that came in the last version:
https://github.com/Griffon26/taserver/blob/v2.6.0/docs/user_manual/release_notes.md#taserver-v260
I can’t find any documention for it though, you’ll have to wait or dig into the code.
