Come play on the community servers
Right now the official servers are down and we can’t login and even when they are up you often get the annoying, unkickable hacker.

But this is not a problem anymore because we can now play on the new community servers where infinite login screen and unkickable hackers are things of the past.

To join these you don’t need to download anything, all you need to do is create a Windows shortcut to TribesAscend.exe and add -hostx=18.197.240.229 to the end of the target field.

Here is a step-by-step explanation with screenshots[github.com].

Here's an overview of when the servers are up:
EU weekdays: 7pm - 1am CET
EU weekends: 1pm - 3am CET
NA weekdays: 7pm - 4am EDT, 4pm - 1am PDT
NA weekends: 7pm - 4am EDT, 4pm - 1am PDT

You can find more informations in this reddit post.

You can also add
-hostx=18.197.240.229
directly to the game launch option in steam (right click on Tribes Ascend in your steam library / properties / set launch options).

Thanks a lot for this brother.
What is the best days and times to find active servers?
igwan Apr 20, 2020 @ 9:37am
Well there are active servers every evenings.

At least on EU evenings, I don’t know if people play on NA evening times.

Can we repack the game? And just run it with out steam? Or are we forced to run it using steam? Asking so i can actually revive the user basis and invite folks i know who would be interested in playing.

For me the game is installed through steam but I can run it without starting steam. So I think you can zip it, copy and run it from another computer.

You can also have a look at this reddit thread, under Tribes Ascend / Direct Download you have, among other useful explanations, links to the non steam version of the game. The Hirez link is dead but the depositfile one seems to work. It’s probably safer to download it from steam, though.

Just learned that this game is still alive and well. I just got done setting up my own server. Holy crap, a dream come true. Time to setup a few community centers with this and their own server per community center (in house). Be cool to see the kids have a field day going to town. Oh... the fun of watching servers balloon with activity and it be a warfare sorta gameplay. Good times.

Still.. need to figure out how to set up the login registration part that the community server has setup and ill be good to go.

Also yes, it runs with out steam, stand alone. I just got redone re-packing the game as its own independant installer, and all the server software needed to get it running on its own.

Yeah i seen that, thank you. But, more so im trying to link it into web page to register and lock in a name on that separate system. I guess when you login first time it generates your account then and there? No password registration process?

You can login with any name and password but it will prefix your name with "unvrf-" and it won’t remember your loadouts.

The verification system was made so you could keep the same nickname as on Hirez servers, to prevent anyone from impersonating anyone.

But if you run your own login server you don’t have to use the bot on the Hirez servers for verification, you can generate authcode manually:
https://github.com/Griffon26/taserver/blob/v2.6.0/docs/user_manual/getting_verified.md#getting-verified-if-the-server-administrator-is-not-using-taserverbot
or use the new verification mechanism, which use emails, that came in the last version:
https://github.com/Griffon26/taserver/blob/v2.6.0/docs/user_manual/release_notes.md#taserver-v260
I can’t find any documention for it though, you’ll have to wait or dig into the code.

Worked out perfectly. The generating authentication codes i can just build a webpage and let it handle the authentication code queue and emailing. Or in the case of the community centers leave it with out such. Thank you so much, im glad to see this game has a chance of new life being breathed into it.

Yo how many people are on the servers normally? Think I might hop on.

There's been no one on the servers lately :/
