Tribes: Ascend

Tribes: Ascend

Does anyone remember Starsiege?
The Mech game that started Tribes? How it ruined the lore to that game.

No, Starsiege did not start tribes. Let me elaborate:

The Starsiege Universe, as it was called After Starsiege, consisted of the following games, in chronological order:

1. Earthsiege
2. Earthsiege 2
3. Missionforce: Cyberstorm
4. Cyberstorm 2
5. Starsiege: Tribes
6. Starsiege (same year as Tribes)
7. Tribes 2
8. Tribes 2: Aerial Assault (PS2 only)
9. Tribes: Vengeance
10. Tribes: Ascend

The series consists of FPS single-player games, FPS multiplayer games, Mech games, Squad-centric mech games, and tactical turn-based strategy mech games. Pretty much the entire universe is utterly badass.

Yeah your right. I'm just one of those people who liked the Cybrid ending better, and Tribes doesn't fit into that ending.

I still have all the original big box games which I run on an old Retro PC setup just for those classics, I loved Earthsiege 2 which also had you flying the Razor as well piloting the Mechs , the other great thing was that they were just about the first of the games that allowed you to set up a true Hotas style mech experience with rudder pedals and a proper throttle , I think MechWarrior put an end to Earthsiege and Tribes took off and I still think the original was the best... not the graphics but sheer gameplay options , no other game at that time allowed you to find an online game worldwide and join in so easily , with massive maps you could even take a break in game and have a chat before returning , amazingly enough in its early days it was C & H not CTF that was much better populated the maps were better designed than even todays Tribes Ascend maps ....I remember some of the best such as Anthill ,Spaceport and the one where you had 2 ships very high up and a docking platform and if you got knocked off the edge you fell for ages ...you could still be fighting on the way down a great use of the height ,another had 2 ship bases and 4 towers that each had lifts that took you down to an underground base that had one switch on top of a tower but I cannot remember its name .I also preferred the original scout ship to the current Shrike as it was real easy to fly and fired rockets not stupid hard to aim lasers I could do real damage with that rocket, and there was much more use of troop carrying ships with 6 heavies being flown with real mass base take overs...and unlike Ascend if you set up turrets and mines then changed to another setup they did not blow themselves up...a much better idea .
It still says something that you can still play Tribes 2 online.
Anyone else remember some other C & H maps in T1 ?
I remember the -siege games turned into Rock, Paper, Scissor fights. Screw the Rad. Gun.

Today I tried talking to people using Cybrid language and Plague Dog quotes. No one had a clue of what I was saying. It was great.
