this come from the little exe in redist directory of tribes ascend, but i did not tried to remove it.
proxyinstallshield.exe is launched at start.

I have the same error but when I click ok the game launche

Just delete it, the game will run without it. It's in the "Binaries/Redist" folder.

Deleting it makes the error-announcement go away, but still can't create an account...

Goto www.tribalascend.com and make one. [It might tell you "Error: Array", but try again with "login on Hirez", or something. It worked for me in the end].

Well that's generally how it's always been done, if it's not a game native to Steam. Make your account on their website, login with it through whichever platform you're playing on. Some will use your Steam account as your game account, but not most.
