It just seems like they tried to do too much (releasing on three different platforms) and even with a staggered release there were still problems.
Feelsl ike PCVR might be delayed, to have extra time optimising?
The new trailer looked off to me - dynamic shadows looked low quality, textures did not look that crisp, maybe it's the Quest 3 or PSVR2 version?
The recommended gpu for PCVR is now an RTX 3080 - which is a very high recommended requirement. The 3080 is 2 - 3 times faster than the PS5, so either we're getting a premium experience or the game may be poorly optimized for PCVR.
SS2 was a big disappointment to me, I'll await user reviews before buying Behemoth. 2c.
Recommended:
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i7-12700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
Memory: 32 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce RTX 3080 (10240 MB) / Radeon RX 7700 XT (12288 MB)
Storage: 50 GB available space
VR Support: OpenXR, Meta Quest 2+3, Index, Vive
It's still a Quest port, usually these have great performance due to being made for extremely slow phone gpus (like Adreno 740 in Quest 3). Quest 3 can do about 2 tflops (reduced in speed to save battery), PS5 about 10 (13-14 with foveated rendering) and RTX 3080 comes with 30 tflops - strange to be needing the power of about 15 Quest 3s for PCVR. Also I think Behemoth will support the ultra-slow 1.2 tflops Quest 2, and then geometry probably is made for that gpu (Adreno 650).
I'll be happy to test the performance at launch and report back, it's a good thing with the 2 hours refund window on Steam - whenever needed :-)
PCVR has tons of headsets that can be used and they probably dont want to release the game on Steam with only the Quest 3 headset as the proper headset optimized for the game.
This is the same reason the Deadhook game devs gave. Because the game is already playable on PC as they gave influencers the PC version to make the game look good in their videos instead of the washed out and low fidelity look of the actual game in the Quest platform.
I bet the this game is also playable on PC, but only for Quest headsets.
But that can also be an excuse as they could also take exclusivity money from Meta like what Epic Games is doing. But optimizing for multiple variety of headsets on the PC platform is a more reasonable excuse for the delay.
"When asked about this omission, a Skydance Games representative informed UploadVR that "we will be sharing more on PCVR in the next few weeks."
So sounds like it is not coming out on December 5 for PC. Really unfortunate since I was looking forward to this more than Metro VR, but the developers gotta go where the money is and it is not PCVR. I'm just happy to get it eventually.
Oh yeah, maybe they are also doing a Rockstar grift, where they will release on lower platforms first, then release on PC later with enhanced graphics marketing so people will double dip. Win win, they get exclusivity money from meta, and then get repeat purchase from fans.
