It's game of the year - so of course worth buying:

Quote: "Behemoth contains so much of what makes VR gaming great, which not only rates it our top pick for our PC VR award this year, but also handily puts it on our shortlist of must-play VR games."

Behemorth is also my game of the year - and not I did not write "VR game of the year", but "game of the year".

Even if SubSide, Blade & Sorcery 1.0 and Underdogs are great too, if you have a fast gaming rig, Behemoth is king.

Good reviews.
But strange that they didn't mention that Metro on PCVR is just a lazy mobile port with horrible textures and low-detail models, built for Quest 2 HW.

Bad game, don't buy it without sale.
Fight system is not even close to perfect one in Blade and Sorcery.
On normal difficulty its too easy and on high difficulty it is just unfair. Your character movement and virtual arms are too slow comparing to enemies animations. Parry system works 50/50, so it is just a lottery every time(even after update with improved parry angles). Enemies often become magnetized to the protagonist during attacks, making dodging almost useless. And as game is unfair to you, you use unfair ways to kill enemies like bow, position and stupid AI abusing and etc, very boring.
Many gameplay things has bad design. Throwing knives trying to autoaim to enemies heads even on Barbarian difficulty level and if you throw it not the way that developers expected - it will go everywhere but not where is supposed to go. There are many different looking blades but it feels like they all are the same. Only difference is - skin, weight and length, but you can't even feel it without comparison face to face. And after getting "legendary" sword you just don't need them all. Same with "legendary" bow. And you get them at the beginning of the game.
Physics just don't exist here, everything has been strictly scripted. Feels like you are playing classic flat game where character does all moves by himself, you just press buttons and some animation happen. I mean, yes, you still need to play it with your hands, but your virtual hands are VERY inaccurate to your real hands moves.

Just buy Blade and Sorcery if you want good vr sword-fighting gameplay experience.

Biggest VR disappointed of the year for me.
Game feels so limited by the combat system, it feels like this game should be played in 3rd person flat with a PlayStation or box controller.
It feels like a bad vr version of god of war.
It's all about those skills, and fancy weapons. It could all just be done with button smash on a Xbox controller.

Wrong Rune....Game of the year for VR is:

Best VR/AR Game (from sources across the web Dec 2024).

Arizona Sunshine Remake
Asgard’s Wrath 2
Batman: Arkham Shadow - WINNER
Metal: Hellsinger VR
Metro Awakening

‘Batman: Arkham Shadow’ Wins Best VR/AR Game at The Game Awards

Honestly, who is saying this game is garbage or things like that has no idea. Behemoth is one of the best VR games out there, packed with great VR interactions. You have to "learn" this game a bit, it's not a casual one. Maybe that's why unexperienced people don't like it...

Behemoth will compete for GOTY in 2025 like all of 2024 December releases. On Steam there are mostly positive reviews. It wast best 2024 release in my opinion, better than Metro and Hellsinger or AS2 (ignoring B&S leaving early acces), but in 2025 there will be couple of promising titles like Arken Age and Gunman Contracts so it might have hard time winning GOTY.

Steam reviews are roughly equivalent between Metro (75%) and Behemoth (76%). Except that reviews tend to rise over time, and Behemoth was released later, and too late for the majority of game awards. I really liked the 2, which are among the best VR games, in 2 very different styles. With perhaps a preference for Behemoth, which is more intense, original and ambitious.
B&S and AS remake were also really excellent, but not really new. And no opinion on the standalone games, I only play on PCVR and despite the improvements, I don't think they're in the same league.

I really enjoyed Batman, it is very good for the native game.
While it has less resolution than Metro, it is much more detailed - you can read text and you can see small details closely. (Also I used QGO to boost it).
I hate that in Metro we have 20 years old textures for environment. :(
When I finished the native Batman and switched to PCVR Metro I was shocked how pixelated the textures were there. Damn.

Good points MacLe0d. I am using Vive pro (Original) which is OLED and most games look great and crystal clear. I have not purchased Behemoth yet because Vive wands are currently a problem. I did play Metro VR and was also disappointed...blurry and pixelated graphics.

Batman is probably very good,, but not yet convincing enough on its own to make me invest in a new (Meta) headset.

Valve Index Controllers are a much better option (and probably the best option of all VR controllers) with Vive headsets, it's what I've been using for years! Vive wands are a bit outdated, just saying... There are tweaks to improve graphics clarity on Metro, you can find them on the forum

Thanks Bronsky....Yes, I will stay with Vive Pro HMD but I do need to buy the Index controllers.
