As of right now, Arena Champions do not follow the rules of the arena. I may change that in the future but they're pre-designed so it'd be a bit of a hassle.
Random Arena Rules are definitely not the 'standard' way to play and (kind of like higher difficulty) all bets are off when you're using random rules - more of an optional extra if you've beaten the game.
They will follow the standard game arena rules ( eg not use special skills in special skills arenas ) and are designed so for example the champion in the 'no armour' arena is not wearing armour and so on ( I think Skeletrus is an exception because his helmet is part of his lore) , or the champion of a 'no swords' arena does not have a sword etc.
Random rules are chaos, not for the faint of heart.
