Firstly, make sure Automatic Save is turned on in the settings, which it should be by default...
But that's a strange one. All I can think of is somehow the save game got corrupted , or interrupted on save. Haven't seen it happen , but still a possibility! What I would suggest if you haven't gone too far with any one character, is delete your settings / save folder and start fresh.
C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\src
Yeah, I didn't got too far, so I'll probably just start over. Thanks for the answer!
- Automatic Saves is enabled.
- I checked the save folder and my file is STILL THERE, but the load campaign button is still greyed out.
- I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything abnormal with the game, I just played normally.
Is there anything that can be done about this? I really don't want to make another run that may refuse to load at any point.
Strange one, and strange its happened twice for you!
Never seen it reported anywhere else before so I'm not exactly sure where I'd even start to look for a fix. I'll investigate a few things at my end, but maybe in your case it is better to turn Auto saves off, make sure show loading screens is on and skip cutscenes is off ( in case any of those were different.)
Are you able to save a solo campaign character, quit the game, and reload it even once?
I just checked, and yes I can do that, and that's the weird part! Because with my previous character I was also able to load it before, but one day I start the game, and all of a sudden the Load Campaign button is greyed out and I cannot press it.
Also this may be important, the game showed the prompt to adjust my settings when you start it for the first time, even though I already started it multiple times!
Hope that helps!
Oh yeah that's really strange - that means its resetting the 'settings files' that keep track of which gladiators you have! That's not good!
I'll see if I can add some code in a future patch that scans your directory and can auto re-add gladiators back into a new settings file if it changes. May take a few patches but I'll write it down. Sorry about that, what a pain!
Well, that's good to know. Thanks a lot for the help!
I could check that later, but as far as I can remember, I pretty much disabled all automatic processes in both CCleaner and my antivirus.
Still, that long term solution would be nice, just in case. Thanks again for the help!

Well, this is awkward... I don't think it worked, and I'm afraid it may have made things worse...
See, just today I discovered that for some reason, whenever I start a new session of Steam, both of my savefiles (my actual gladiator and my test gladiator) kinda ''switched'' states. As in, one savefile would become available and the other wouldn't. So I figured for the time being, I could work with that and if I switched correctly I could still keep playing with my actual gladiator.
But then, this update dropped aaaand... now once again I can't access any of my savefiles, even with the previous method.
So I don't know what to do now. Is there something else that can be done?
EDIT: Just to make things clear, I still have the save file, but no matter where I paste it, the game just won't detect it.
Okay, so what I think has happened is your save files got corrupted along the way , what you were describing would definitely have broken them. The game will not load corrupted files. But going forward, you wont have the issue with the settings being tied to the save games anymore.
