Granny 3

Note to D.V.LOPER
You can make a game hard without programming it to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Ex: Granny/Grandpa are always coming down the stairs when you come up from the cell.
-When they're spawning, they spawn in the room you're about to walk into 9/10 times.

I'm not the type to yell "rigged", but you couldn't pay me to believe the game isn't programmed to know where you are when there are 10000 rooms but they always happen to be RIGHT around the corner when you spawn, or they spawn. They're never on the third floor or outside patrolling, they're ALWAYS descending a flight of stairs.
"AHA" as soon as I walk through the door.

Crybaby rant over.

Some notes about their respawns that might help you. Apologies in advance for the long post.

Granny and Grandpa each have 4 predefined spawn points throughout the house:

Granny's spawn points:
  1. In the third floor bedroom
  2. On the second floor, in the armchair room where the Firewood is placed
  3. Behind the shed
  4. In front of the cell where each day starts
And Grandpa's:
  1. On the third floor, in the room with the gate control table
  2. On the second floor, in the dining room beside the bookcase
  3. On the front porch
  4. Behind the shed

At the start of day 1, the game will randomly choose which spot the grandparents will spawn at. All respawn points are fair game, with the exception of Granny's fourth respawn point, which will always be ignored.

On days 2-5, I am presently unsure if they reuse the spawning algorithm from day 1, or if they always spawn on the third floor. My analysis of the code is inconclusive, and it's difficult to test in-game with how quickly they move about the house.

When they respawn after a knockout, the game will always attempt to spawn them on a different floor than the one you were currently standing on. What's important to note about this is that your current floor is only updated when you arrive at a new floor. i.e. If you're climbing the staircase from floor 2 to floor 3, and they respawn while you're halfway up the staircase, they have the possibility to choose a floor 3 spawn point and intercept you.

If you're keeping track of their respawn timers, it is a good idea to avoid changing floors when they are close to coming back, as it will minimize the risk of them spawning close to you and ambushing you. If so, you should also note that their respawn timers are 5 seconds longer than the game claims (the time taken for their ragdolls to fade is added to the time they are gone), and factor that into your plans accordingly.

Sorry for the load of details, but hopefully it can help a bit with your frustration. Dealing with respawns is definitely one of the rougher parts of the experience, especially without knowing the mechanics behind it.

Thank you! It definitely helps to kept that in mind, especially when I ascend or descend levels. I managed to beat every difficulty mode with all 3 of them, so I'm now officially done. What helped me the most was realizing that the Ticket Control robot downstairs actually lures grandpa down there as well- so any time I started from the cell, I would run down there and set it off. Hide in the metal locker right up the stairs and wait til they passed by.

Though at one point, I lured them both down by the train and by the time I made it upstairs grandpa was coming out of the room with the spiral staircase. Sure, grandpa.. Sure..

Yeah, the ticket control robot (along with the subway) was added in the update last month and it really transformed the way the game is played. Before then, Grandpa was completely deaf (even to the shotgun), which made the game very RNG dependent, and especially made getting out of the cellar at the start even more of a nightmare. Once you learn a couple of ways to deal with Grandpa (at least, most of the time...) I find that the game gets a lot easier :)

Congrats on finally managing to clear it 100%! Hope you enjoyed playing, despite the challenges!!
