Question about the game Gunner, HEAT, PC

I downloaded the game Gunner, HEAT, PC and I really enjoyed the game but I have a question about the game:
Why are there no modern new tanks of today's China, Russia, etc.?

The game focuses on a conflict between the Warsaw Pact and NATO in Germany in the mid-1980s so modern tanks are not in scope.

You can't get exact specifications, data, pictures, service manuals, measurements legally of tanks still in use, and without these, you can't make an accurate sim. On the other hand, it is tremendous work to accurately reproduce even one vehicle, and this is a small developement team. They must concentrate on one specific timeframe and theatre, otherwise the models would exist in vacuum without a playable environment and realistic opponents.

plc answered. The teams initial vision is, as plc points out, to focus on the mid 80's NATO vs WP. The initial release will be US Army vs East Germany.

He's already stated that Russia will be added and there are Russian hulls you can play with in gunnery the Grafenwoehr gunnery scenario.

The current game will not have anyone not represented outside the WP or NATO in the mid 80s, so China definitely is out. There is mention of adding other NATO/WP militaries but the tech will be circa 1985 and the weapons will be what that nation had in that time period.

I feel many of the current owners would rather see a polished product covering this 1985 era before we move on to other nations or eras. It would make sense to add later eras covering the same areas later because the maps are already made. Admittedly, the NVA (East German) army are fairly easy to manage against when using M1's and M2's, against T-55 and BMP-1s. However, that difficulty increases when you use M60A1 and M-113s.

Best chance of a possibility of seeing advanced tanks in future DLC is supporting them in their current state.

Knowing the developer's usual sarcasm, i think you will get this answer: you will have modern tanks of today in GHPC, when you present documents proving that those tanks were present in the fulda gap theater in 1985.

They have their hands pretty full for the foreseeable future with the current roadmap so I wouldn't count on modern tanks being implemented. It's not in the scope of the game they are creating (meaning a tank game featuring a war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in the mid-eighties).
They read the forums so they will perhaps see your post but I doubt you'll get a different answer.

This is pretty much a unique game.
