BMP 1 killing M1's with it's cannon.

I just had an BMP-1 kill all of my M1's with it's cannon (bugger was hiding behind a hill so couldn't hit that flat turret). I thought he got me with his missiles but upon review it was his 73mm cannon...

I was under the impression that cannon struggled to penetrate a piece of paper, let alone the frontal armor of M1 Abrams.

Just wondering is the BMP-1 cannon stronger than I though and really capable of penetrating the frontal armor of an M1 or was I just unlucky that it penetrated (3 tanks)

i kinda late on this but i find that ai will try to go for ur all weak spot like shoot in that general area. i been getting T72 trying to kill my driver alot instead of goin to my manlet
BMP?? never got me as M1 i got them first. pesky artiltary tank. When i playing as one i literally have to shoot over 500m to m60 and it not that present without high tech helping out

Who the ♥♥♥♥ told you it struggles to penetrate a piece of paper, it's 73mm HEAT, you know what AT in HEAT stands for right? The BMP-1 is more than capable of penning an M1s side and back armor, or it's weakspots

The AI does not aim for weakspots, to me it appears that there is a pre-determined spot on every tank which they will try to shot (usually right in the middle of the tank), with some RNG degree of error, like, i noticed that in an M1IP they always aim for the loader

The AI will aim at the centre of what they can see. This is what any trained soldier is taught to do. It just so happens that most of the weaker parts of a tank's frontal armour (turret ring, driver's hatch/scopes, gaps around gun mantlet, etc.) are in this area, so if you sit still long enough or are at close enough range, they will eventually land a hit there.
