Japan was not in Fulda Gap in 1985, nor was it slotted to deploy anywhere in 1985 because it was a Self Defense Force, not an expeditionary force.
Nothing in the roadmap or FAQ said anything about it being limited to a certain place, or set of tanks. Why do you think I'm asking?
Q: What vehicles are going to be in the game?
Q: Can you add this specific vehicle?
A: The initial focus is on a fictional war centered on the "Fulda Gap" in 1985. The Fulda '85 theater will feature units from the US, USSR, and East and West Germany, in the CENTAG area of operations. Later on, we will expand to other times and places. In general, we only consider vehicles adopted into service and serial production; prototypes are not eligible to be added. We also do not take requests.
Perhaps it would be helpful if such details were also included in the game description. I've played this game for some 200 hours now and am well aware of the place and time that this game focuses on, and yet I've found it difficult to find any documentation to backup what I believe to be true.
When I look at the game description in the store, the description below is what I see.
"In its present form, GHPC features a series of semi-randomized "instant action" skirmish missions and a basic campaign mode, featuring combat between the armor units of the USA, USSR, and East Germany. There are over a dozen playable combat units, including tanks, IFVs, APCs, and anti-tank missile emplacements, all with their gunnery optics and fire control systems authentically modeled."
A text search of the entire description for "1985" and "Fulda" etc. yields 0 results for me. To me at least, this description would imply that this game has a defined starting point, but no boundaries have been defined. Therefore it would be reasonable to assume that tanks from other countries or time periods could potentially be part of this games future.
To recap - it would be beneficial to have these details right at the beginning of the description where potential customers who are making a reasonable effort to understand what this product is and is not can see it.
Edit:
I had to Google search to find the FAQ so I must be missing the intended path to this document. "Fulda Gap in 1985" is indeed included here, however you have to read through roughly 25% of the document before finding this statement. Perhaps these details should be moved closer to the top of the document.
This is the actual answer to my question it seems, guess I'll keep an eye on this game. If they add the Type-74, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
P.S. to every other commenter here, nowhere in the description does it say that it takes place at the Fulda Gap in 1985. Don't presume somebody walking in here just knows everything about the game already.
I have to agree with you on this. As I was saying in my previous response - I've been playing this game for quite some time and although I'm aware of the time frame / theme of this game, I found it extremely difficult to find any documentation that I could refer you to that would back up what I believe to be correct. It would be extremely helpful if "Fulda gap, 1985" etc. was stated not only in the description of the game, but somewhere very close to the beginning of the description.
It's always been showcased and in the description, from inception, to be a Fulda Gap 1985 tank sim. It's ok, many newer generations are unfamiliar with that area of operations. That being said, historical accuracy is the attraction, not paper, stalinium stuff.
I guess we need to be more precise in what we mean by "description." When I look at this game in the store I see 2 sections that offer details on this game. The "early access" section and the "about this game" section. I've been referring to both of these sections combined as the "description." I see no mention of "1985" or "Fulda Gap" in either of these sections.
There is also a statement that reads "Gunner, HEAT, PC! (GHPC) is a simulation game about modern mounted combat, with special attention to authenticity and fun." Again, no mention here of "1985" or "Fulda Gap."
Where are you seeing a description of this game, which has from the games inception, states Fulda Gap 1985?
Sure, there's a pinned topic that is named "Roadmap, FAQ, and other useful links." If you read this topic you'll see links to the following:
- GHPC website
- Early access roadmap
- Gunner guides
- Discord server
What's missing from this list? Perhaps a link to the FAQ? The only way I can find it is to go to the "GHPC website" and then scroll through roughly 75% of the page before I see a "FAQ" link in the "Info" section. Or, as I stated previously, Google search for "Gunner Heat PC FAQ."
Is it really reasonable to expect a new customer to go through all of this effort to find out for themselves that this game is focused on the Fulda Gap during 1985?
As I said before, as these details seem to be producing a lot of unnecessary / repeat questions, maybe the easiest way to answer this question is to move these details to the game description in the store.
Edit: I've requested that the "Roadmap, FAQ, and other useful links" topic be updated to include a link to the FAQ. I've also suggested that this same topic be updated with a "Fulda Gap, 1985" statement.
