Gamma setting in Nvidia in control panel is at default 1.0.
Other programs and games are mostly ok with these settings. Day missions in GHPC look good so it is not too bright in those.
I'm using Lossless scaling the keep frames in this game smooth. In that program I noticed that disabling HDR setting makes the image a bit darker but not enough. Without Lossless scaling running it is brighter. I'm using a HDR monitor and I have tried disabling HDR in Windows.
I just tried the Patton pass or what ever one the first missions is called in night. I'd say I can spot vehicles at 2km with binoculars. Against a forest spotting would be harder. The sky was filled with clouds so it should be a lot darker.
I try to make it darker with Reshade or something until we get a gamma / brightness setting in game.
A combination of things are at play, there is a bug right now where all missions will be full moon no matter what you do which means max brightness for all night missions and the other thing is that there is some eye adaptation within the game so if you do not use night vision you'll see better than if you flashbanged yourself with a "bright" image coming from NVGs (just like how you'd get used to the darkness in real life).
So yes, there is an issue right now but you could already perfectly play without NVGs if you played in a dark room and didn't touch NVGs at all if the moon was full or close to full.
