Commander aim is too easy
I'm not super familiar with a lot of tanks, but I assume commander aim is modeled on real life tanks that allow commanders to override the gunners controls when they spot a target?

But even so, it's way too easy to make use of in game. I'll see nothing through the commander sight, but as soon as I hit space bar my commander auto-locks to an enemy from a km away that exposed an inch of barrel.

Are there any plans to balance, or in some way disable this feature?

Commander snapping will be tweaked in future to both make it less accurate and more realistic. There is no way to turn this feature off unless specifically volunteering no to use it yourself.

I'm glad you guys are looking into that. As of now commander snapping is amazing. They didn't add the ability to point the turret at what the commander is looking at until the M1A2 with the target designator. In reality the commander snapping would be more of the commander saying "Gunner, left, left, left, left, on.", "Identify", "Fire and adjust." in the form of actual commands.

I take to be the TC is looking through his sight extension and using his power controller to get the cannon on target. Normally the TC should be able to direct the gunner on but sometimes the gunner just can't ID the target so sometimes the TC will have to step in - also for quick/emergency engagements.

When taking over control from the gunner, the TC is supposed to say "from my position"

Commander can override Gunner in reality (at least in the more modern versions of tanks). I think it´s good they implemented this because in a real tank you are NOT the only one spotting, quite the contrary: the commander has way better overview, whereas the gunner is somewhat limited to his very small viewrange.

There is likely some abstraction to be expected in this stage of development. The "snapping" feature, as it is now, is likely a place holder and will hopefully be more fully fleshed out in future updates.

My commander could even do it our old Canadian Leopards! Was actually a common occurrence just to speed up engagements.

Please. some people like that feature and others not. Better keep this option to not make a "serius simulator only" and add the possibility of nerf or put off this option. the more options to configure the more people happy. No war between users!!!
