I progressed more in the game and messed around more, and i agree, it's too much work to manipulate the stock market to wait for it to go up and down significantly. You can make a decent amount of money early game, but it's far more profitable to let the stock price only go up, and benefit from the upgrades once you unlock mailnan. just switch between the two upgrades, gain 1 post stock and increase post stock by 10 for each purchase, which is much faster and can give a lot of gold (mine is about 2M gold for selling 100 stocks atm). It works pretty good for late 2nd city and early capital. Once in the capital its far more profitable to just sell the rare materials like metal and oil and use the time pineapple to increase the restock rate (w/ pineapple upgrade via greedy apple)
