Controllers do not work.

So I have been attempting to troubleshoot why my controllers do not work with this game now. In the past, both my ps4 and xbox one controller worked without any issue. I would launch the game, it would detect my controller immediately and swap the prompts to the selected controller. I quit playing the game for about six months and randomly decided to play it again. However, now my controllers don't work. I have tried every solution I could find/think of. Below are the methods I have tried:
1. Unplug-replug
2. Unplug one controller, such as my xbox controller, then swap to my other controller, ps4 in this example.
3. Restart the pc.
4. Disable/enable steam input.
5. Wait until game launches to plug controller in.
6. Download and run the game using the bepinEx RF5Fix.
7. Update the controllers.
8. Change controller scheme templates
9. Turn off wireless mouse before and after launching game.
10. Download the xbox extended feature functionality from steam controller settings.
11. Uninstall-reinstall rf5.
12. Unistall-reinstall xbox extended feature functionality.
13. Launched the game through Steam's Big Picture Mode.
The controllers are not the issue as well since they function as expected in every other game. At this rate I've been debating on purchasing RF5 on my switch, since I really enjoy this game but cannot stand the Keyboard and mouse controls for it. Curious to see if anyone can think of a fix and I appreciate any help.

I am having the EXACT same problem! Haven't played in forever, and I go to launch the game. I DESPISE keyboard/mouse controls on games like this with a passion, and my Nintendo Switch controller won't work properly with the game. The left stick, SUPPOSED to move my character, just cycles weapons and tools like the pad. Which makes it impossible to even move! I've played the game too much to ask for a refund if they put up some kind of patch that fricked me over. Anybody have a fix?

Looking at the update history section of the store page shows no patches or updates have ever been released for this game. Something must have happened on yours and OP's end to cause this.

im currently playing with an xbox 1 controller and am not having any issues at all, not sure whats happened on your end. Maybe its a driver issue or something not sure

I thought this might be an issue as well, but after checking my drivers, they are up to date. That was a good suggestion though.

Currently playing with a PS5 controller with no issues. Maybe play some more with steam controller settings.

I just started having the same issue. Controller support works fine, well with some tinkering, on the steam deck. One day I decided to play the game on pc and none of my controllers work. Even though I played it with a controller on PC a couple days prior.

I had a problem with my x box x controller, but now it sort of works. The key is to remap your controller. You will still have times where you need to use mouse and kb, which is very annoying, but the dev couldn't be bothered fixing the controller problem, which is entirely down to it's mapping or in this case, they didn't add enough keys on the controller, and they like to invert controls a lot too. They could easily have fixed this in an update, but their only concern was the dlc, then jump ship and abandon it.

Thanks this actually fixed the issue. Still a shame that the devs haven't patched it, but I'm glad this works.

I am really happy I could help you fix the controller problem. It was really horrible at first, but then i did as I said, and the vast majority of the problems I had went away because my controller was working properly mostly, and I could actually play this game :) The modding is super annoying because of all the BepinEX versions, and most mods only work with certain versions of it lol, but if you are able to mod it, this game goes from moderately good to a different level :)
